for everyone wondering: Sakamoto Days was released in japan as a double episode, 1 and 2 released last saturday For the rest of the world next Saturday will be a double episode so both countries have the same schedule from episode 3 onwards

yup love the adaptation! Manga starts off a little slow and picks up quickly after, but the anime seems aware of it cus they’ve cut out some chapters to compensate imo. It’s easily one of my faves now

It's even funnier because Sakamoto has the same VA as Gintoki Sakata. I am pretty sure the author is a Gintama fan. Edit: Even the two side side characters are similar to Gintama. Shin and Lu look very similar to Shinmachi (yes SHIN) and Kagura. There is definitely something going on here. 🤔🤔

Anime only watchers and reactors really ha e no idea what they signed up for with this series. Give or take the complexity for what it is, but this story is actually nuts. It's a bit of a slow burn at first. Jujutsu Kaisen and Bleach were the same. As fun as the Substitute Shinigami arc is, it's an almost 30 episode long arc that is very "monster of the week" vibe with bits of the broader plot and narrative thrown in here and there. Sakamoto Days feels like it's taking a similar approach but I highly doubt it'll be quite as long simply due to the seasonal format. I don't know exactly what the episode count is supposed to be, but the average for these series seems to be 18-22, so considering where we are after just two episodes is very promising. I'm a massive fan of this series. I actually read the first chapter the day it released and I definitely enjoyed it at first. Like a lot of other people I didn't take it too seriously and I just thought it was fun... then the plot kicked in and it just never really stopped. Sakamoto Days is now in my personal to 5 favorite mangas ever now. Its crazy to think that considering what manga I've read, but as the story has gone on and where it's at now, I really just couldn't deny it anymore. I actually think that story aside, I actually think the manga has some of the best action scenes ever full stop. I would put Sakamotos best action scenes against any manga you want to bring up and feel comfortable making that statment. So, as long as the anime is able to deliver on the action and emotional beats of the story in an honorable way, than you'll understand.

It does get better. The series problem in the early chapters is it goes down the path of a lot of older Shonen series we're it takes a while to build up steam and establish it's main plot but once it gets going it goes. Honestly though I feel the pacing is overall better than what I thought it would be. A lot of stuff that wasn't really needed in hindsight has been removed from the anime so far which hopefully means the Director wants to get to the good stuff just as much as the fans do.

Yeah so far it looks like the anime skipped an entire mini arc before we get to Lu. To be fair though the main point of the arc was the backflash with the wife we saw plus it reveals one of Sakamoto's attacks that the Director might want to save for a more hype fight it's used in relatively soon.

It's a regional thing. Netflix Japan got the first two episodes on the same day, but for most other regions, Ep. 2 will aire this Saturday.

Not a fan of some of the writing so far, but it could change later. The wife's thought process doesn't make sense to me. She doesn't want him to kill anymore. But is she aware that he's killed some very bad people? She's essentially forcing him to keep extremely evil people alive. And because of that they can continue to do evil. Maybe there'll be a plot point about that later (there better be). These first couple episodes feel like pretty generic anime stuff to me so far.
