In 1972, sudheer moghe wrote this and it was broadcast for AIR Pune in their masik geet but HMV did not cut disc. it was babuji sudhir phadke later did that and sang in a bit fast laya. His version is most popular since it was played on radio many times. To me babuji's rendering appears to be for a 'Sakhi' located far away physically. Panditji's rendering is for 'Sakhi' sitting next to him but her mind has left him long ago. what do u feel? - suresh

This song was first given to Pt Bhimsen Joshi... and after singing this he himself was not satisfied (this song was initially treated to be a "raagdaari" based and not a "bhaavgeet" ) and then he recommended Sudhir Phadake for this song. This also proves a point that Pt ji was a great singer (no doubt abt this) but he also knew which song suits which voice. He didn't go ahead and tried making everything classical based. By changing to Sudhir ji's voice the song was benefited & so were we.

it is a rare opportunity for marathi bhavgeet lovers to hear a song rendered by two great singers. while i am no expert, i think that sudhir phadke's version is more soft, more lilting, sung by a madhyamvayeen , middle aged man addressing his love while pandijit's song comes out to be a more mature man, a senior citizen looking back to a lifetime of love and knows that the end is near and he wants his love to be with him for a sweet end.

I agree with The Suresh1952. The "Deshila Ka, Hosheela Ka" comes so unexpectedly in lower notes, which gives the feeling that he is expressing emotions to sakhi sitting next to him. What a melody!

This is the original radio recording. There is an acompanying instrument playing the Theka but other than tabla. It is playing the Roopak bols but in notes which follow the song notes! I am told it is kashtha taranga .
