Hi Saki. Thank you for the video. I enjoy watching your channel very much. This and the previous video taught me a lot about the real situation of minorities living in the US. I studied a little about the unconscious stereotypical ideas about racial matters after the BLM movement. I talked about what was happening then in America to my students when I was teaching about the Civil Rights Movement in English classes for junior 3. The USA is still the country students want to visit and stay in to learn English. I understand microaggression is the outcome of unconscious stereotypes prejudice about races and minorities. As you mention in this video, someone who expresses something bad about races or minorities often notices that they have offended and hurt someone by their words or attitudes. Similar things happen in Japan more often because we believe that we are all the same, and we tend to think that we think and feel in the same way. The process to respond back to microaggression suggested by some professors is very enlightening, but I wonder whether it will work here in Japan. It is because most Japanese including me will become more emotional than Americans. They might borrow their ears frankly than Japanese. Of course, this is a stereotype about Americans. I really enjoy learning from your video and watching you becoming sophisticated behind the screen time after time. I don't know much about the present Coronavirus situation in NYC, and the struggles of people there, but please enjoy your stay and study at the university. Take care of yourself. I am looking forward to the next video from NY.

U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB)によると、そもそも人種をWhite / Black or African American / American Indian or Alaska Native / Asian / Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islanderに分けているそうです。 www.census.gov/topics/population/race/about.html#:~:text=OMB%20requires%20five%20minimum%20categories,Hawaiian%20or%20Other%20Pacific%20Islander. ここにいろいろ書いているので見てみてください!
少しはしょってしまいましたが、Where are you from?だけだと州を聞いたりもできますが、州を答えた有色人種の人に対して”No, where are you really from?”と追い討ちをかけるようなことが問題になってると論文にも書いてありました!説明不足ですいません! ポイントは相手との関係性を考えない発言によって、傷つく人もいると言うことだと思います!
Years ago, there was an event of Boston Museum which allowed visitors to wear kimono. However, several Asians appeared at this museum to protest against this event with placards “Orientalism” in their hands. This event may have been “racism” which few Japanese understand since we are happy that many foreigners wear kimono. By the way, I have a question. Would those protesters protest when Japanese are bashed with history matter? Many Japanese still have to face hate speech about the history matter though we were born after the war and Japanese are honest and follow ethical rules. I believe this is the most disappointing moment many Japanese have to face in foreign countries. If those people who are sensitive to micro-aggression are less interested in this issue, I cannot support those who are angry when they are asked “Where are you from?” I always try to find a trick by thinking in this manner. There are moves that look great but damage you intentionally just like communism.
