I also got the Note 9, switched from the iPhone X, and had iPhones since they came out. I was blinded by the iPhone never looking into other phones, thinking the iPhone was the best of the best. Eager each year for a new release. One day, I and my daughter walked into Best Buy and went to the phone section I saw the Note 8, the pen was out with a drawing app open, (I should also add that both my daughter and I like to draw). So needless to say the Note won us over. We waited for the Note 9 early release and we both switched. I have zero regrets, the switch was easy and not so hard to learn, the customization, WOW, the help this phone gives me at work, WOW. My daughter is loving hers as well, she asked me once why we have never switched, I responded, I don't know I thought we had the best. I was like a horse with those blinding things that only let the horse look forward never looking to what other options their might be out there.

The Note 9 has better cameras , S-pen , Bigger Battery , Better Display , Finger Print sensor , face recognition , Iris scanner , 3.5 mm headphone jack , 6 GB of RAM and u can get 8 GB on the 512 GB version , Cooling system , fast charger out of the box . clearly the Note 9 has lots of things that the iPhone X s or X s max doesn't offer . everything else is pretty much the same on both devices . so clearly , the Note 9 is the better option . and guess what ? the base model of the Note 9 is 100$ dollars cheaper than the X s max and it even has 128 GB storage with expandable storage up to 512 GB compared to the 64 GB u get on the base model of the iPhone X s max . Note 9 is the winner , there is no contest here . But of course Apple Fan boys have a different opinion LOL ! .

Apple is apple eco system and note 9 is android... no other smartphone has the s-pen capabilities.....so that said it is a personal preference. I personally love the note series always has been the best Samsung phone put out....

Look I get it why people invested in the Apple ecosystem might want to use an iPhone...I have an iPad myself and i know gaming i great...but if you're on the fence and not entrenched in the Apple framework the Note 9 is better...way better. What I can't stand is their stinginess with fast charger and now no dongle. Frankly if you have a X stick with the X at least till they get rid of that notch. That why there are different manufacturers and different operating systems to meet the needs and wants of the consumers. Yes. For me its an taste that I chose the samsung s10 plus instead of other phones. I just like the design more then others. The reason why there is no customization is format and optimization, the reason why there is no app drawer is because apple's nand flash storage wouldn't be able to load the apps location fast enough to have that smooth experience. The truth is that apples CPU's aren't actually powerful. The reason why the benchmarks are high is because they are 1. False 2.archetechter based 3. The A12 can smoke desktop CPU'S in geekbench benchmarks, but we all know that's not posible as the battery can not supply over 35w tdp to a mobile processor on a phone so what gives? THE BENCHMARKS ARE WRONG. They compare architecture not raw performance it's all a lie to help with sheep's egos. Also the GPU on the snapdragon processors are far more superior to the A series bionic chip.

Thanks for the review. I was actually checking the iPhone XS out since the support for my Lumia 950XL is going away and I have to, essentially, decide between Android and iOS. Although, I have bad experience with Android and its freezing/slowing down issues after a year of use, I can't really justify Apple's price-tag for almost nothing in the box + issues with charging. It's really sad that Windows 10 Mobile is going away... worked like a charm for the 3 years I've had the phone and FaceID (Windows Hello) has been there since 2015.

Just switched from the Note 8 to the iPhone XS Max. I love different things about both, and have had each in the series of Notes and iPhones over the years (among other phones). The one thing that I have to say about the iPhone is that the features seem to work more consistently. For example, on my Note 8, there were features in the camera app that would just never work. The face recognition on the Note 8 struggled a bit too. I just don't have those kinds of everyday usage issues with my iPhone XS Max. Face ID on iPhone is almost flawless. Lastly, I'm not buying the battery comparison results. If I didn't turn my Note 8 to power saving mode, the performance was predictable.

I’ve been an Android user my whole life and this year I decided to try an iPhone for the first time..cause why not? And so I did. Got myself the XS and my personal thoughts, I love it, its fast, easy to use, quality feels great, and it’s just a great incredibly smooth and fast phone overall. Not gonna lie though, still miss the freedom to customization (not to mention the headphone jack), but by no means is the XS a bad phone at all...it just doesn’t have all the diversity android has imo then again never really used all the extra stuff android has but it’s better to have and not use than to not have at all..or in this case have “limited”. Still happy with my product but I can probably see myself going back to android soon if apple has nothing else to offer (:

That's exactly what happened to me. I never ever used multi functioning features on the android phones for the longest time so I decided why not try an iphone. But I realized after upgrading to couple different iPhones I was constantly bored, so I decided to get the note 8 and I use more of the features now than I ever did before because I missed them so much when I had the iphone.

So no your review does not prove what you are saying, as that game is available for Android, runs just as smoothly. I think you should re-evaluate that part of the comparison. I actually had Note 2 and then Note 4, the only problem I had with them is they started to lag after a year and I just got fed up (phone ringing and pushing the answer icon does not respond!). I had iPhone 8 plus since it came out and it is still running smooth with no lagging at all, as smooth as when I first turned it on. I really love the Note 9 features and tempted to go for it, but I am still worried about this "self-destruct" tendencies of the Note lineup, be it lagging to a crawl or just physically exploding (I am sure Samsung fixed the exploding part, but old device lagging when a new one is released, hmm?!)

My previous phone was iPhone 6s plus and I was hoping for apple to create a phone I'd fall in love with, but deciding between XS Max and Galaxy Note 9 I have chosen Samsung. Just got it yesterday and I'm happy so far. Though the apps do crash, lag and behave weirdly sometimes, I really missed my good old Android. I suppose there are good and bad things about both of them.

@@amandaaloveess yes I started with a Galaxy S3, and my last android phone was the S6... I had to change because of the lags but more because I bought a Macbook pro. I still DO use tablets though. I'm very neutral, it's like choosing between Marvel and DC but I just watch both. Prior to choosing an iPhone this year, i do like android specs better but for me(I love that you can customize some things too), the thing that I like most about iPhones is that it never lags... well for me at least. Like i said it never lags, but I do have some problems with the XS max. First the front camera major problem lol, sometimes the screen does not respond to my touch, oh and recently when I was in a group chat with family there was something wrong when I tried to plug my earphones in... it was almost as if it was choosing whether the sound should go through the earphone or the phone speaker 😅 i hope they fix it, if not then this phone is such a disappointment.. The XR might be better than XS

I agree with your assessment of the differences between the note 9 and the Iphone X max. However, one of the key functions that you didn't include in your assessment is that the Apple IOS utilizes the memory of the smart phone more efficiently than that of the Android operating system. Therefore the memory increases you noted between the 2 devices isn't as significant as you might think. Apps and memory management are handled more efficiently in the Apple system, which coupled with the bionic a12 chip gives the Iphone a significant lead when it comes to multi tasking and utilization of storage. I agree with MrKlumZ that the firmware doesn't utilize the full capabilities of the increased memory and storage in the samsung phone.

I hear people say this all the time and I just don't understand what there talking about both appstores have millions of apps on them and all the major apps are similar on both platforms. he also completely skipped over the advantages that Android has like the fact that the playstore has almost twice the amount of apps that ios has or the fact that apple bans certain types of apps like emulators,third party screen recorders,Launchers, automation apps etc. and the fact that you can download apps from third party sources other than the playstore.i agree the difference between the playstore and appstore is blown way out of proportion just like when Android phones load a game 2 seconds slower than an iPhone in a speed test and ios user exaggerate how fast iphones are.ios users tend to take something ios does slightly better and exaggerate how good it is. But I think when you look at what both oses have to offer as whole Android is overall better

I’ve had both. I love both Samsung and Apple, they both make quality devices. What drove me to the iPhone is consistency and timely updates. I like that I can track my son. I had issues with performance with each Note phone I bought after a year or so that drove me get the next model every year. That’s expensive. Apple is still supporting the 5s. I even have both the IPad and the Samsung Note Pro 12.2. They serve different audiences and both have pros and cons. Both GREAT phones. Can’t go wrong with either.
