Sakura D5 setup review

Hello and welcome to the hobby. I am using a brushless motor from OMG 13.5 and OMG servo the esc is hobbywing 160amp.

I’m pretty new in building rc cars I just build the Orlandoo hunter 35 did not go well only because the screws are like 2-4 millimeters in length so it was pretty hard to work with I was just wonder what servo electronics and motors you used

Another good question! I will probably run hobbywing brushless also when I get my D5 soon! Its very affordable and decent quality stuff. I have thier brushed esc on my crawlers.

This car has no oil in the differential?

Can you adjust track width on the D5? Not a deal breaker but it would be nice for that flush wheel fitment.

you can adjust the front only by not putting the set screw all the way in on the lower arms but you will make it a weak point and it will most definitely fail. just use wider offset to achieve your goal

@@14arcangel09 ok yeah I found specs last night and chassis width is listed at 198mm. Like I said not a deal breaker but the old Yokomo narrow arms were sure nice for extra offset on narrow bodies. All good. Thanks for the help!

Newbie Q here with drift cars in general do you want a soft shock or stiffer shock? And more precise if I were drifting in my local car park which is tarmac would I want a soft or stiffer shock? Thank you

Hello for shocks there’s lot of options really you need to try different springs with the type of shock oil your using with that being said it also comes down to track surface and layout. Example for me outdoor drift car Yd2S I use yokomo 200 oil weight with reved red shocks(hard). Suspension feels a little stiff but when I driving at the skate park outside it gives me just enough suspension travel. I’m hoping this kind of gets you going in the right direction cause there’s to much to talk or explain in a message

I run 160amp hobbywing pro esc, 13.5omg motor . Omg predator servo and onisiki gyro at the moment

i have this kit on order.. when building you recommend the front struts mounted on outside over the inside position? also hobbywing 60a or 120a for this kit with a 10.5t brushless?

Strut position will depend on you how it feels when you drive. Esc 120amp and 10.5t brushless is perfect. Have fun

using the spur gear that comes in the kit which is a 84 and using a 20 pinion gear

Could you please tell me what size those aftermarket turn buckles are? M3 by what length? I would love to get some

The length is the threads from the centre are 3 so the whole length would be 6 I don’t have the package so I can’t give you exact measurement hope that helps

How does the d5 compare to other chassis like the rmx and yd2 when tuned properly?

With a good tune it’s not bad it has speed but I find it is always at the limit when in angle because of the motor. For me personally having the motor at the back is to much weight for the rear I prefer the esc at the back.

me personally I like mid high but its really subjective to your driving style.

Hello I never driven the d3 but I did drive the d4 and it’s 100% better out of box it can actually drive with out of box settings but like any chassis you add your setup so it drives the way you like

why does your d5 chassis front shocks look different from stock? whats the benefit in mounting it this way?

mounting the shocks on the outside I feel more stable and the shocks are softer then the original ones that come in the kit. Original shocks i find are to hard. Good question by the way

Any 1/10 scale body from pandora yokomo mst d-like 3racing will fit your drift car wheel base is roughly 256

Depending on what chassis you have you can’t adjust downstop cause all the new kits don’t come with the set screws or the hole on the lower arms( front n back) to do so. If you want less rebound on suspension just change springs or oil or the shock ball ends to shorter or longer. I hope this helps.

If you are saying electronics it is hard to say. I would recommend OMG electronics for drifting you can get the new one for about $300 that’s motor and esc. You still need to buy a servo and a gyro. There are even cheaper versions out there which I can’t recommend because you might not get the result your looking for with cheap electronics when it comes to drifting they will hold you back. Hope this helps
