Hey Troy. First of all thanks for all your help. I have abrought a Sakura d5 and a hobbywing esc (same as yours)and a 10.5t motor. I did see in one of your videos you programming the esc. I brought a programer the same as yours but now I cannot find the video you made . I am completly new to all of this so was hoping you could point me to the video or do a video on progrmming the esc and sugestion for programing a gyro. I have a FS-GT5 radio with a FS-BS6 rx with built in gyro. Thanks. Jay. Oh and Merry Christmas to you and your family.
@RoadsideRC3 жыл бұрын
Jay - thanks for reaching out. Here is the video where I installed the ESC&motor and did some initial setup. I believe compared to this video, I have since turned the turbo and boost both down a little bit. Those settings really suck the battery life down heavy, so I only crank them up when I am at an event with other folks. Otherwise, I keep it at a lower setting for just having fun in my garage. For the gyro setup, I am concerned you will struggle with that gyro. There are stability gyros, and then drift gyros. The one you have in your flysky should be a stability. It is actively attempting to keep you from spinning - trying to get the car to NOT drift. Now to be clear, I have not personally tested it...and you already have it. So go for it and see what happens! Seriously though, a good quality gyro is KEY in the RWD drift world. I have another video I am working on with a MST RMX RTR right now. The difference a quality gyro makes is staggering in how well the car drives. I highly recommend the Futaba GYD450, or their newer GYD550.

@@RoadsideRC thanks again for your advise. Excuse my ignorance, if i get that gyro do I need to change to a futaba radio set ?

It really is a good chassis, that is for sure. And you can't beat the price. Just be smart on your electronics selection and you can easily keep the price down.

@@RoadsideRC yup at rcmart.com right now I have in my cart the d5 kit, reveD servo, hobbywing quicrun ESC and brushless motor combo, yeah racing gyro and the total right now is only $246! I already have a ton of Lipo and a radiolink 5 channel remote so I'm good! And half a dozen bodies and 10 sets of drift wheels/tires. Its an addiction lol I used to drift a tt01 so I have a head start. (Built under $250 while I lived in Japan 2005-2008)

That is great. Very excited to see this completed for a great price. I have not tried with the radiolink to see if it would control the gyro. Does it have a channel on it that you can use?

@jayleetheriaque51964 жыл бұрын
Hey man love your videos, very helpful. On your MST, do you have any tips on shock position?
@RoadsideRC4 жыл бұрын
Try a couple things: 1) Move the shocks all the way outside both top and bottom, attempting to stand them rather straight up and down. 2) Leave the bottom on the outside, move the top all the way in 3) Move both top and bottom all the way inside. 1 should give you a more dynamic, snappier feel. 2 should make the car smoother. 3 will help tell you if you springs are too stiff. Give them a shot and see which one you like. I ended up at 1 while using much softer springs and damper settings.
@Larry25674 жыл бұрын
Do you initiate drift by tapping the brakes or giving more throttle? Ive been on asphalt and always had to give it throttle but tried on smooth concrete and a friend told me to use the brakes and I'm actually liking it more. Only thing is, it doesn't work on asphalt
@RoadsideRC4 жыл бұрын
For me, depends much more on the corner and track layout. Long straight that then has a tight corner - brake. Most other corners, I blip the throttle.

Hi bro, Sakura d5 wheelbase is 260 mm right? I couldn’t find mustang body shell with 260 mm wheelbase . Do you think it’s ok to use 257 mm body shell for Sakura d5? Or not.? Thanks for the advice, 🙏

Yes - I think you can use the 257 - plus you can adjust the wheel base slightly from the directions.

Great budget build. I'm currently at about £200 with mine including chassis, servo, gyro and body. I also feel its a bit lazy on transitions, I'm using more handbrake than power to flick it.
@RoadsideRC4 жыл бұрын
Great! I am working on a $300USD build with this chassis. It looks like it will work. What components did you use?
@DubsnSubsSessions4 жыл бұрын
@@RoadsideRC I used a cheap Etronix low profile servo, onisinki gyro and a hpi jzx100 body. To keep it super cheap I put in a 27t modified brushed motor (20 years old) and a hobby wing 1060 esc and some nimh batts. Goes well on a small polished concrete track.
@RoadsideRC4 жыл бұрын
@@DubsnSubsSessions Wow! I think you went cheaper than I did! Great job. I used a 12T brushed motor and it still feels slow. If I was going to do it again, I would go 9T or 10T depending on what I could find...or 3S. :) Great job building it on the cheap!
@DubsnSubsSessions4 жыл бұрын
@@RoadsideRC Well, it has a 120A 4s esc and a 5700kv motor in it now, just to see what happens lol. It was a handful in a drag rail so this will probably be undrivable.
