Lv these pens. They work on Bristol or plate or hot press watercolor paper without shredding, and on rhodia paper for calligraphy. Ty.

Hi! Are the colors still beautiful after two months or have they faded over time? because I've heard from other reviews that they will fade.

Great review and swatch, DitkoArt! I was shocked to see that the markers did not move with the water you applied on that coloring paper! What kind of paper is it? I have the 24-set of the Sakura Koi Watercolor Brush Pens. Each pen has the same text as on your pens, that they are "Water based, dyestuff ink." I just uploaded a video where I used a few of the pens on 140-lb. hot pressed watercolor paper by Fabriano, sprayed the paper with water, and added sea salt to it. I also tried out the Staedtler watercolor brush pens in that video. The colors from both brands reacted wonderfully to the water and the sea salt, but I saw a few odd marks on the green and purple from both brands. In an earlier attempt (not on video though) to see how well the Sakura and Staedtler pens would react with water and sea salt, I discovered an odd effect (brown spots) that occurred when I tried the iris color from the Sakura set on both the Fabriano paper and the Oat Art Studio paper (also hot pressed 140-lb wc paper). At first, I was not very happy about the effect until I was able to "fix" it (covering it with a Sakura Gelly Roll clear Stardust gel pen). This fix did an awesome job of both covering those brown spots and adding a bit of shimmer to the pictures. I have no idea why that particular color produced the brown spots on it and the other colors (blue, purple, and green) did not, but I did notice (in editing) that after I sprayed the colored-in paper with the water, there were hints of light brown forming within that iris color. I suspect that the sea salt absorbed some of that brown tint and then left it there once the salt was removed, creating those brown spots. I’ll have to try using the Sakura pens on other kinds of paper to see if I get the same results you saw on your coloring page. To me, that would be great for coloring books - if the colors were not affected by moisture because I don’t want my markers to reactivate with water on a coloring page.

Hi! Can you please review the Lyra Aqua Brush Duo and compare it with this Sakura Koi? Because I will start to draw manga and comics but I don't know what colours are the best. Thanks 🙏

Hi, there is already a video on my channel about the Lyra Aqua pens :). I prefer the Sakura Koi and find them much better but couple of days ago I got a set of Karin brush markers and they were sooo goood but I still have to compare them to Sakura Koi. One thing I noticed is that the paper plays big big role on how these markers will work. For example non of these three worked good on hot pressed cotton paper, so if you can buy 1 of each open stock it would be good to see if they will work on the paper you are intending to use…

I think I will use some papers like the canson watercolor or mixed media papers, because I think the watercolor paper are not so smooth and maybe it can ruin the brush tip. Can I ask you why do you prefer the Sakura Koi instead of the Lyra? Do you have tried with the same paper? Thanks 🙏
