Camellia TeaCeremony

Күн бұрын

We are aware that many of you have had to cancel your plans with us (and in coming to Japan), and that a great many people are in isolation at the moment. As you cannot come to us, we thought we would broadcast a tea ceremony to you.
With the cherry blossoms coming into bloom, we chose the theme of Sakura and springtime for our event. You can see many nods to cherry blossoms in the utensils we use and the sweets we serve.
Our teahouse, 'Camellia Garden', is located in a 100 year old property, right next door to Ryoan-ji temple (famed for its rock garden) in the north west of Kyoto.
We do hope you enjoy taking a peek at our tearoom, the tea ceremony and the gardens, and we truly hope to see some of you soon.
For now, best wishes from everyone at Camellia.
Stay safe and take care.

My ASMR journey is complete! I never knew that this is where it started. We're visiting Japan in Jan 2025 and I hope we can include this experience on our itinerary.

This is a rare treasure on youtube. With so much passion, but same time modesty, I felt very well „picked up“ in regards of getting the understanding of this. However, though it is „only“ virtual, I felt welcomed personally to this calm place. Also the 2 Ladies who conducted this, did that without the „show off“-attitude, which made this video even more special. Everything without commercial but with pure passion to creat a joyful moment for the viewers. One of the things that touched me most is the fact, that this ceremony has rituals that are followed on - but it looks so natural and not „studied“, if that makes sense. You can now add a new needle into your visitors map: I‘m Stefan, I am from Munich in Germany and I‘d like to thank you ever so much for giving me this wonderful moment.

I loved the ceremony a lot. I noticed how you were preparing the tea without a lot of foam, i assume omotesenke style(?) I'd love to see a video on comparing the different styles of tea ceremonies, mainly the san-senke. Maybe even including examples? I couldnt find a good video on youtube about that yet. Love your work, thanks for sticking around with us during lockdown, greetings from germany.

Chinese people are used to serving tea to guests and have formed a corresponding tea etiquette. For example, when inviting a guest to drink tea, the cup should be placed on the tray and offered with both hands. The cup should be placed in front of the guest's right hand. When talking and drinking, the guest should be provided with water in time. The guest should be good at "taste", sipping tea slowly and taking small mouthfuls instead of gulping it down.

A tea ceremony, one of the experiences i would love to partake of- Pink snow known as cherry blossom, I'd be so very happy, and i'd visit the local temple and pray to my ancestors- japan is to me is place of spirituality and finding inner peace. Tea is an icebreaker to start a conversation, i may be western but I'd learn and be willing to not just indulge in all things japan, as they say when in japan one must do all they must to ensure respect of all places

After reading "The Pillow Book" and "The Tale of Genji", I realised that the most commonly consumed drink during court ceremonies was not tea, but sake - and in large quantities. I suppose harmony with the world was reached fairly quickly...

I love watching the ceremony. I hope to go to Japan some day and explore Kyoto, especially the tea ceremony. Do you teach the ceremony or do you feel it is inappropriate to share with others? Thank you for a brief look into your world!
