OMG!, i have two such pieces, i just dumped those in showcase, i came to know these are saligramas today only, thanks for information. these pieces were donated me by lovely children of 'Sarmano'. it is 1000 year old special traditional village on the top of the hill range, near Milan, Italy. those available to them at forest around, they consider they are special things. i feel happy about those gifts now. will do pooja. it is such a traditional place where most beginning and different ages churches constructed and preserved and available to see. lots of traditional places are there. my Finland artist Pirjo did painting using that spiral design, actually v went there for one international art symposium. i remembering all .will forward this video to them, can get back more matter about .

As per the scriptures details based on reading and understanding it..both the Salagrama and the tirumala balaji idol are swayamvyakta manifestation of the supreme Lord of all the universes.. Hence it does not require invocation for making pooja and if potable water flows on the idol with tulsi leaves on its feet..it deserves to be the theertham... So salagrama haram does not make any difference to the idol.
