Salaam with respect to salafism you were right in saying that students who are not in a formal islamic institution are taught to run before learning to walk .. Mashallah a very good diagnosis.. When I started madrasa the ulema first teached us about fiqh tahaarah the five pillars then in depth fiqh regarding rulings and why it was considered.. Not simply this hadith is the most sahih we read all opposing daleels which were quite sound also .I learnt to to respect the ulemas hard work to derive a conclusion .. After all this it's not easy to call someone a kaffir or a mubtadi on hair splitting issues .. A lot young brothers think anyone can be a mujtahid and classify people so easily after learning basic aqeadah May Allah guide us

There has to be some acceptance of responsibility rather than blaming "brainwashing". This gives people a notion of some control over their influences and subsequent actions. If it is ascribed to "brainwashing" how can you empower people to take action?
