Thank you for this fine presentation. I studied Islam and ME history for quite a few decades when I was still Christian. Even then, I could see the power of ibn Tayymiyyah's mind. He clearly had a first rate mind--I believed that even though I wasn't Muslim and disagreed with Islam. As a recent revert to Islam, I'm even more impressed with Tayymiyyah's insight and realize even more how important he is. If we don't study this man's work, we are missing one of the powerful figures in Islamic intellectual history.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the Aqeedah of Salaf us Salih and Khalaf may Allah be pleased with them all, and then you wonder why he was persecuted and put in jail multiple times by prominent Sunni scholars. "There is nothing in the book of Sunnah, nor in the statements of the Salaf, or Imams of the nation that He (Allah) is not a body and His features are not a body" Source: Bayan Talbis al-Jahamia, Volume 1, Page 101. God is also a beardless, curly haired, young man who rides on a mosquito: "We conclude that it was eyesight as it is in the Sahih narration from Qutada from Ikrama from Ibn Abbas who narrated that the Prophet said:'I saw my God in an image of a beardless (young man), with long curly hair in a green garden." Source: Al-Tasis fi al-rad ala Asas al-Taqdis byibn Taymiyya, Volume3, Page214. "He permits the possibility of His sitting on a mosquito's back" Source: Al-Beshara wa al-thaf Allamah by Hassan al-Saqqaf, Page 21. If He (God) wants, He can sit on a mosquito's back. Source: Bayan Talbis al-Jahamia by ibn Taymiyya, Volume 1, Page 568. Ibn Taimiyah cited this text from Sheikh al-Daremi and he wrote that he believed in it. Interestingly, there is a similar belief in Judaism, because they believe God rides on an angel. We read in the The Old Testament, Book of Samuel, 22:11 (King James version): "And he rode upon acherub, and did fly.: and he was seen upon the wings of the wind." Enough about your gods attributes, let's see what ways of transportation he uses to get to his intended destination: "Allah is able to relocate from here to there through rope" Source: Majmu'a al-Fatawa, Volume 2, Page 76.

some of these comments are truly saddening. if any of you feel like ibn taymiaah (r) is wrong about something, it is okay. however, it is not okay to insult him ( dead man ) or his many followers. after all we can differ in opinions, and opinions can change with experiences. to comment " ibn taymiyyah is a kafir " or " stupid " without reading any of his work, is merely ignorance. love each other for gods sakes, we are limited beings.

The greatest battles are the battles of the intellect, only the feeble mind resort to derogatory and vulgar language or worse, physical harm when critiquing their opponent who belongs to a different group or sect. Shaykh ul Islam ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullah) is the perfect example of an intellectual brilliance and personality that was way ahead of his time and his works are just mind blowing, only if people understood the genius of his writings - may Allah have Mercy on him and bless us to walk his footsteps for the betterment of the Ummah, Allahumma ameen.

Sorry to say that this guy is a Dhajjal not just misleading the Muslims but also the entire Americans and others. The time of general public is precious and there are plenty of things they have to know. This kind of philosophical matters should be limited to be discussed among scholars or specialized study purpose the way he did for his Doctorate. The mere fact that this guy is discussing all these difficult matters with general public is the proof the this guy does not have proper idea of Quran eventually Islam. Ibn Thaymiah and F Razi discussed issues related to their time which should be analized in their context but not in the modern time. What we need is to analyze the scriptures (Quran and Hadeeth) according to the modern time and its challenges; and find out practical mechanisms which suite the modern time. Please convey this message to this guy and let him stop spreading falsehood otherwise they won’t be no option than targeting further.

@@hasanbilgrami5735 If Kalam theologans will reinterpret this verse about estewaa (being above the throne) because the act of being above a throne is human-like then they have to deny and reinterpret the hundreds of verses that describe Allah as seeing, hearing and speaking for these are indeed human-like as well. Of course Kalam and Ashari theologans will respond that the divine attributes of seeing, hearing, and speaking are in a modality كيفية that is befitting his Majesty and glory compared to those of man. Ibn Taymeyyah and the Salaf before him demand that the same principle should be applied to the attribute of estewaa (being above the throne) as well. i.e God's estewaa above his throne is of a modality that is befitting to his Majesty and unlike that of man. It's the same principles when it comes to all Allah's attributes. We don't cherry pick based on our whims. Ibn Taymeyyah and the salaf's position is very clear and straightforward when it comes to divine attributes: we should describe Allah only with the terms that He or His prophet used to describe Him and negate what Allah and his prophet negated. That's why Ibn Taymeyyah refused to affirm or deny corporialism as it wasn't affirmed or denied by Allah or his prophet, so we don't go there and we don't speak about God without knowledge. We do not reinterpret what we simply don't like with our reasoning because human reasoning is limited to what we experienced in this earthly life where nothing is like God.

The core of Tanzeeh is to believe that Allah is ABSOLUTELY beyond need and comparison. Hence, believing that Allah is a spatial entity or something with a size, shape, or form, is tantamount to tashbeeh (resembling Allah to the creations). I agree. Shaikh al Islaam ibn Taymiyyah was amazing.
So much venom here below against Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahu'llah), it could make one sick! Truly the devil has beautified your actions in your own eyes. Does God Almighty have a face? Yes, that's what HE says in the Qur'an. Does He have two hands? Yes, that's what HE says in the Qur'an. Can we ever imagine or understand what's meant by those words? Never! Not in this life. So who gave YOU the right to negate those attributes or to interpret them as per YOUR own whims and intellectual taste? This is NOT tajseem/anthropomorphism! It is simply an affirmation of God's own words WITHOUT any interpretation whatsoever. May Allah guide those who genuinely seek His guidance.
@mohammedhanif67809 жыл бұрын
excuse me brother, can you please reference where Allah says He has hands or a face?
@fadial-mufti23389 жыл бұрын
Mohammed Hanif Dear Brother, if you're asking for an Aya that says something like: "I have a face" per se or "I have hands" per se, then you obviously won't find such ayat. However, if you're asking for a literal reference to Allah's hands and face in the Qur'an, then please read below. Reference to Allah's two hands in Aya 75 of Surat Sad: قال يا إبليس ما منعك أن تسجد لما خلقت بيدي أستكبرت أم كنت من العالين Here Allah (SWT) says: "I've created with my (own) two hands". Reference to Allah's face in Aya 27 of Surat Ar-Rahman: ويبقى وجه ربك ذو الجلال والإكرام
@mohammedhanif67809 жыл бұрын
Fadi Al-Mufti dear brother, Then when you wrote earlier: "yes that is what He says in the Quran" in reference to face and hands, you were making ta'weel and not taking these verses literally? You were.actually interpreting those verses despite saying you weren't. The strict non-interpretive understanding of those 2 verses would be 1. God created with two Hands 2. The Face of our Rabb will remain without saying He has two Hands or a Face or what these refer two. My problen is that you seem to condemn some Muslims for interpreting these verses but you do so as well.

Salaams bro! Aqidah is not hard - it is the explanation of aqidah ('ilm al kalam / theology) which is hard and cannot simply be dismissed. Most believers simply accept the aqidah for what it is at face value and do not need to go further. But other people are so constituted that their intellect forces them to search into these matters - theoogy is a medicine for them, and also a shield and sword against heretics and non-believers.

There is only one clear verdict on this from Allah's Kalaam: Refer to Aayah 7 of Surah Aal e Imran: 03:07:= "It is He Who has revealed the Book to you. Some of its verses are absolutely clear and lucid, and these are the core of the Book. Others are ambiguous. Those in whose hearts there is perversity, always go about the part which is ambiguous, seeking mischief and seeking to arrive at its meaning arbitrarily, although none knows their true meaning except Allah. On the contrary, those firmly rooted in knowledge say: 'We believe in it; it is all from our Lord alone.' No one derives true admonition from anything except the men of understanding."

Today there are many families who are being saved by ibn taimiyah's fatwa in indian sub continent where husbands pronounce talaaq thrice in anger which they regret after they calm down.

Abdullah Ibn Masud (may Allaah be pleased with him) reported that Allaah’s Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “The last person to enter paradise will be a man who will alternately walk, stagger and be burnt by the Fire ... until his saying: “Then a third tree will be raised up at the gate of paradise, and it will be better than the first two. The man will say, “O My Lord, bring me closer to this [tree] so that I may enjoy its shade and drink its water, and I will not ask for anything more.” Allaah will say, “O son of Adam, did you not promise Me that you would not ask Me for anything more?” He will say, “Yes, O Lord, I will not ask you for anything more.” And his Lord, may He be glorified, will excuse him because he is seeing something which he has no patience to resist, so He will bring him closer. When he is brought close, he will hear the voices of the people of Paradise, and will say, “O my Lord, admit me to it.” Allaah will say, “O son of Adam what will bring an end to your requests to Me? Will it please you if I give you the world and as much again?” He will say, “O Lord, are You making fun of me when You are the Lord of the Worlds?”“ Ibn Mas`ud laughed and said, “Why do you not ask me why I am laughing?” They asked, “Why are you laughing?” He said, “Because the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) laughed”, so they (the companions) asked, “Why are you laughing, O Messenger of Allaah?” He said, “Because of the Laugh of the Lord of the Worlds when he [i.e. desirer of Paradise] said, “Are You making fun of me when You are the Lord of the Worlds?” He will say, “I am not making fun of you, but I am able to do whatever I will”“. [Sahih Muslim] There is clear evidence in this that Allaah is attributed with laughter, and that his laugh is real; we know this through the action of the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam), in which he laughed due to Allaah -the Mighty and Majestic- laughing. However, Allah’s laughter, though Haqeeqi, is not like creation’s laughter in its reality, and none knows how it is in reality except Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic. What is obligatory upon us is to believe and submit.

The Face of Allaah is one of Allaah’s Attributes which is true and real, just like all the other attributes that have been reported in the Book and the Sunnah. The exact nature of His Face, like all the other attributes is unknown, and in this regard the statement of Imaam Maalik constitutes the scales by which all of attributes are understood, "Istiwaa is known, but its modality (kaif) is unknown, having faith in it is obligatory and asking about it (i.e. about its true nature is an innovation". Then from the Sunnah, is the saying of the Messenger (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam), "His Veil is made of light and if He was to uncover it, the splendors/radiances (subuhaat) of His Face, would destroy everything of His creation that His Sight would reach." [Muslim, from Abu Moosa al-Ash’aree] So it is clear from this that the Face, which is an Attribute of Allaah, also has attributes. Following hadith clearly proves that the Wajh of Allah is Haqiqee (Real). "I seek refuge in Allaah the Mighty (al-‘Adheem) and in His Noble Face and His Eternal Power for Shaytaan the Accursed" [Abu Dawood]. Concerning the interpretation that Face refers to His Essence (Dhaat). Then if it is meant by this that it refers to His Essence while at the same time affirming a Face for him, then this is acceptable. For Face is an attribute of His Essence and it is not something created or separate from Him. Hence, if everything will perish save His Face, then it is understood from this that His Dhaat will not perish either, it will remain and this is because Face is an Attribute of the Essence, not created and separate from it. However if it is meant that it refers to His Essence while at the same time denying the attribute of Face for Him, then this is falsehood as has been made clear from the above. Imaam Bukhaaree affirms, without doubt, the Attribute of Face, just as he brought narrations in affirmation of Hand, Eyes, Self (Nafs), His Speech, His being above the Throne and many of the other attributes that the Jahmiyyah denied.

Regarding the statement of Allaah the Most High, For those who do good is the best (i.e. Paradise) and something more [that is better]?. (Yunus 10:26) Then the Messenger (sallallaahu alaihi wasallaam) said in explanation of this, "Looking at His Face, the Most High" (Muslim 1/163). Therefore, the one who denies the attribute of Face for Allaah then he is claiming that the Believers in Paradise will be looking at something imaginary, and in this he has made a great error and invented a great lie.

+Mohammed Hanif Imam Al-Razi RA was a great, great scholar. Sadly, the author that you see presented is an individual that was on the salafi bandwagon for many years, he then broke away from them and now is independent. Sadly, he didnt attempt to read the books and fatawa of Ibn Tammiyya RA, where in certain books it is reported that he gave literal interpertations to mutashaba ayats, however other books by him suggest not so, many ulema quote famously that the reason for his arrest was the fact he was teaching such to his students and was imprisoned for this, but Allah now best. But my point is, i hardly accept things like this, you get a book produced by some scholar and then start to rebuttal it not even nowing whether the book is original or not, whether it has been tampered with. you may suggest hocus pocus, to which i will say go pick up imam Bukhari RA book Adab Al-Murad and then go pick a same one, but it must be edited by their great scholar Shaykh Albani and then open the two and start comparing them, you will find that many hadiths are missing from the shkaykh albani as he threw them out, and when questioned his response was the one we are given today, "It was to safeguard the ummah, as they may not under these hadiths" but you will never get the above ulema bothering to investigate that nor the life of ibn tammiyya RA and the books he published or "alleged published" you will find many contradictions even to the point were he has interpreted mutashaba ayat literally. I still love the ulema, as they have done so much for us, but the scholar in the video is presenting a biased picture, because he has not devlled nor beeen critical of Ibn Tammiyya RA. but hey thats just what i think, but the Imam bukari thing is true, research it up, or even better go find the and get the orginal book and the edited one by albani and see the difference. just to let you know, ibn tammiyya ra came in 661 H imam ashria and maturidi RA came in 250H and they were salaf sualiheen.

One argument I did not hear the sheikh address...And that is, unlike mutazila, philosipha, etc. who were changing core meanings, taking metaphorical understandings of certain texts, like gods names, does not change the core meaning of the islam. The same message is taken away from either approach. Big difference in that and mutazila isnt it? For example, Asharis say God cannot be on a throne, for it would assume, God is limited to time and space, therefore, it must be metaphorical. Asharis say, no God says he is on a throne, but it is unlike any throne we can comprehend. So essentially its really just a meaningless statement with no value, as they have no idea what the throne means. Therefore, the throne becomes metaphorical for them as well...What's the difference? Seems like semantics. At least with the Asharis, we can attempt to understand the text. The Atharis have no take away from the message. Secondly, I wish he would address the role of metaphor in text. Does Ibn Tamiyah deny the existence of that? If so, that is strange, as metaphor is used all the time in language in Arabic poetry is it not? And is he does agree on the use of metaphor, where and when is it used in the texts and how do we know when to use it? Thirdly, I wish he would have addressed the downside to literal interpretation of text. Namely its tendency to promote extremism and intolerance. Some text clearly contradict other text, without metaphorical understandings of some, how do you make sense of it all and reconcile it all together? Seems like you cant, and rather just ignore certain texts.

Fakhruddin razi rh used laysa kamithlihi shay verse before giving a meaning to mutashabihat verses and words like yad.. So the first meaning of yad is hand, this meaning is secondary and literal, the verse laysa kamithlihi shay takes precedence(1st) over hand(Literal yad)(2nd), hence another meaning is taken that does not resemble Allah to creation. Here all verses reg Allah is taken first before a meaning inc laysa kamithlihi shay! Any meaning that likens Allah to creation is rejected. Razi rh Yad - laysa kamithlihi shay(1st verse) - control(2nd) example Ibn taymiyyah used yad - hand, using reason(meaning) over revelation ie The verse laysa kamithlihi shay comes AFTER(2nd) according to this group and the meaning apparent/literal haqiqi hand is taken before(1st). Ibn taymi Yad - hand(1st meaning), laysa kamithlihi shay(2nd verse) So who used reason over revelation? Def not fakhruddin razi rh. Twisting words to support and fool people does not work for long. Falsehood can be covered with a word of truth, when the truth is unveiled falsehood is exposed. Verily falsehood by its nature is bound to perish.

Ibn Taymiya followed the Aqeedah of Ahlul Athar (Athari Creed). Therefore He follows the same manhaj of Imam Ahmad. Imam Ahmad (d. 241H) said: We affirm the Attribues and we do not make any similitude for them. This is what has been agreed upon by the scholars.” [Usool As-Sunnah] Ibn Taymiyyah refutes the stance of the Mushabbihah (those who liken the creation with God: anthropomorphism) and those who deny, negate, and resort to allegorical/metaphorical interpretations of the Divine Names and Attributes. He contends that the methodology of the Salaf is to take the middle path between the extremes of anthropomorphism and negation/distortion. He further states that the Salaf affirmed (ithbaat)all the Names and Attributes of God without tashbih (establishing likeness), takyeef (speculating as to “how” they are manifested in the divine), taʿteel (negating/denying their apparent meaning) and without taʾweel (giving it secondary/symbolic meaning which is different from the apparent meaning). [Al-Aqidah Al-Waasitiyyah] Scholars of Ahlul Athar believe in the Attributes of Allah as mentioned in the Quran. they do not ask how, or give resemblance and neither do they change the meaning. Ibn Taymiya never bellieved that Allah has body (jism). He simply affirmed the attribues menntioned in the Quran such as the Two Hands (Yadain) and Face (Wajh) of Allah. Imam al-Haafiz adh-Dhahabi said As Allah exists in a real sense, not metaphorically, His attributes cannot be taken as metaphorical, because in that case they could not be divine attributes, because the attributes are connected to the one who possesses those attributes. As He exists in a real sense, not in a metaphorical sense, His attributes cannot be metaphorical. As there is nothing equal or similar to Him, there can be nothing like His attributes. [End quote from al-‘Uluw, p. 239, 250]

***** Besart Dovolani Regarding the verse; “(Allah) said: ‘O Iblis! What prevents you from prostrating yourself to one whom I have created with both my hands? Are you haughty? Or art you one of the exalted?’ ” [Sûrah Sâd: 38:75] The fact that Allah singles out Adam saying that He created this creature with His own two hands shows how much Allah has honoured Adam. AhlusSunnah are unanimously agreed upon the belief that they are Two actual Hands, which in no way, resemble the hands of created beings. It is not correct to distort and misinterpret them to mean ʺstrengthʺ or ʺblessingsʺ for many reasons. Some of them are as follows: Firstly: It would mean that the apparent meaning of the wording is changed to mean a metaphorical one with no supporting proof. In fact there are hadith that proves the Hands (Yadayn) of Allah are real; Hadeeth: al-Bukhaaree (Eng.) Vol. 9, H604; Muslim (Eng.) Vol. 4, H6699: “Allah will grasp the heavens with His Hand and the earth with the other, then He will shake them …” Secondly: the Arabic language mentions the attribute in dual form. Thus the verse affirms the Two Hands. The Power or blessings of Allah has never been mentioned in dual form in the Quran. As in Arabic, it’s impossible to say that “Two Hands” means “Two Powers” or “Two Blessings”. Thirdly: the Arabic word Yad means hand which is used in the verse been discussed. But the Arabic word for power is Quwwa which is not used in the verse 38:75. POWER OR BLESSING IS NEVER FOUND IN THE DUAL FORM in the Quran. Imaam Abu Haatim ar-Raazee (d. 277H) said: “A sign of the Jahmiyyah is that they call the Ahl us-Sunnah ‘Mushabbihah’ (Anthropomorphists).” [Ahl us-Sunnah of Abu Haatim ar-Raazee (p.21-22) and Sharh Usool ul-I’tiqaad (no.92).] Imam adh-Dhahabee - rahimahullaah - narrates from Abdullah ibn Umar (radi-Allahu ‘anhu), “Allah created four things with his Hands, the Throne, Pen, Adam and Paradise, then for the rest of the creation he said “Be” and it became” (Ibn Jareer in his ‘Tafseer’ (23/185), Daarimee in ‘Radd Alal Mareesee’ (p.90), Baihaaqee in ‘Asmaa Was-Sifaat’ (p.233)). The above hadith makes it clear that the Hand of Allah is real and is an actual attribute. Also the above hadith proves that the Hand (Yad) of Allah is different from the power (Quwwa) of Allah because everything is created by Allah’s will and power. After this it is necessary to also bear in mind some of the replies of the Scholars of Ahl us-Sunnah to the Ash’ariyyah, Jahmiyyahs, Mu’tazila and other groups which used Greek philosophy to interpret the Quran. Such as the fact that they affirm some of Allah’s Attributes and yet interpret others with ta’weel. Then the question arises: Why this contradiction? If ta’weel is correct why do they not do ta’weel with regard to all of Allah’s attributes? Or if it is correct to affirm Allah’s attributes without ta’weel then why do they not affirm all of Allah’s attributes without ta’weel? What sound principle and proof do they use to distinguish between the Attributes which they accept without ta’weel and those which they explain away with ta’weel??? If they say that they do ta’weel of those attributes which they claim are attributes of the creation and therefore are not befitting the Creator - such as Allah’s Face, Hand, Arising over the Throne (al-Istiwaa) - then the reply is that the creation also have other attributes such as existence, knowledge power, will etc. which they share with the Creator. Then why do you manage to accept these as Attributes of Allah without ta’weel? Then if they reply that we say that Allah’s existence is an existence not resembling that of the creation, but befitting His Majesty and likewise with regard to His Knowledge, Will and Power etc. - then the reply to them is: Then why are you not consistent and what prevents you from saying the same with the rest of Allah’s Attributes e.g. that Allah has a Hand befitting His Majesty, not similar to the hands of creation - and so on with regard to all of the Attributes - which is indeed the way of the pious Salaf.

"There is no doubt that Ibn Taymiya was a harsh polemicist. In his writings, he was unforgiving to any other group because he truly believed there is one Islam that is correct Islam." ~ Yasir Qadhi 18:30 That is to say Ibn Taymiya was Tomàs de Torquemada and Grand Inquisitor of Islam who issued zillions of fatwas condemning anyone who disagreed with his position or veered from what he saw as the "only true Islam" to be summarily killed, sometimes for the simplest of reasons. He was ruthless and uncompromising tyrant. His fatwas has been used to exterminate all those who followed any other creed, sect, ideology or path than his narrow understanding of Islam.

Master25, try to be reasonable, following your ancestor's footstep blindly is not saving you from the hellfire and besides no one has the right to renounce or denounce other belief unless once was presented and witnessed the other person dies in a plain Kufr. So take care of in blaming the decent who you can't even ask forgiveness. Therefore, you had better purify your faith because you will be questioned of your deed and you won't be blamed for the other deed. As the speaker explained, the Ibn Taymiya taught is 100% acceptable.

Many people and scholars have done in the past and present. Ibn taymiyyah has written many kufur statements in his books and has been exposed by great scholars such as Al-Razi, Imam-i Subki and many more. You have clearly been indoctrinated by the the fitna that is wahabbism. the majority of sunni Islam is ash'ary and Maturidy, and both hold the same creed only differences in terminology. Both hold the creed of the salaf and thus the ash'ary do not reject the books of Abu Hanifah but agree with him such as the book of Alfiqh al-Akbar and the creed of Imam al-Tahawiyy. The term Athary is a whole new explanation the wahhabis are using the validate the path of Ibn Taymiyah who was imprisoned and rejected during his time. Ibn Taymiyah came during the 7th century and imam al-Ash'ary lived in the 3rd century. If you truly want to follow the companions of the prophet then stay away from Ibn Taymiyah. Its very strange how wahhabis will come up with new terms and explanation to claim that they are salafi while they follow a man that came around 7th century and try so hard to convince themselves that this man was in the path of those called Atharies and the Atharies lived at the time of the salaf .... and this man who came 4 centuries after the salaf knows the way of the salaf. Imam Ashariy and Maturidi did not invent a new path but supported the path of the sahaba and this why the great mojoriy of scholars agreed with them except people like Ibn taymiyah and his followers. and Ibn taymiyas followers when faced with the reality they try so hard to prove otherwise when the truth is so clear and evident. May Allah guide us and show us the truth as truth and enable us to follow it.

What Imam Razi wrote about the 4 possibilities when the meaning of the Text has conflict with the Reason or the Rationale. Imam Razi asked us to safely reject all these 4 possibilities that lead to kufr, then advised us to bring in the 5th possibility of conforming the textual meaning to the intellectual meaning. Actually Imam Razi says don't deny the Text, which is MUNAZZAL MINALLAH as denying the text entails kufr, BUT LEAVE THE TEXTUAL MEANINGS TO ALLAH and say ISTAWA we know but its kyf we don't know. Know that what isn't describable is kyf here. We know what is laughing but when it comes to Allahs' laughing, we can't describe it....Allah knows how He laughs in ALLAHU ZAAKIKAN; it is certainly not like our laughing. This is true when we deal with the HUROOF-E-MUQATTE'AAT and to AAYAAT-E-MUTASHABIHAAT, both are Munazzal minallah and we have to believe in them as they are the text, but leave the ir meanings to Allah and try not to give them your own meanings. THIS CLEARS THE AIR AND SAVES US FROM KUFR. But ibn Tymiyyah refuted this neat and clean resolving of the conflict between a'ql and naql in 10 big volumes raising 44 points; but Dr. Yasir Qadhi holds that Ibn Tymiyyah didn't write anything from his side while he was answering the questions Imam Razi raised. This simply means Ibn Tymiyyah isn't in fault but it is Imam Razi's fault to have started this discussion. The first point Ibn Tymiyyah wrote is THE NAQL ISN'T DEPENDENT ON YOUR A'QL, so what you understand isn't the meaning of the Text. Razi, in fact isn't giving any meanings to the Text. Instead he is saying BELIEVE THE TEXT AND LEAVE ITS KYFIYYAH TO ALLAH, for you aren't mukallaf to know the KYF of the Kalamullah, but you are responsible in believing THE TEXT.

How did Ibn Taymiyyah reconcile the fact that on one hand he discredits aql as being subject to the individual(subjective) and time(culture, surroundings etc.), and on the other hand he appeals to it to accept his arguments? If it's invalid to begin with, then surely accepting his arguments is just as prone to be wrong. I find it fascinating that a lot of what he described against the rationalists(that they use difficult words and do the emperor-has-no-clothes thing) is happening now with the salafi atharis who do the exact same thing, but argue what he argued.

The beautiful thing about IT is that he destroyed people at their own game.

Who determine what is correct in these school of thoughts when all of them create their own rules of what considered correct....

he's not that bad, he's repented for his mistakes, many of which people today, muslims, can't do.

@@azeddinelmansour8355 wow، so arrogant, mashallah, ibn taimiyah himself didn’t even say he was athari, what else do you want ? Ibn taimiyah some 8th century scholar follows the “Dalil” and the other hanbalis and imams before and after him don’t? What a load of nonsense, go ahead and live in la la land, you’ll be with your sole sheikh on the day of judgement inshallah
