Dear Proffesor Abdel Hakim Murad,Its seems it would be best to let your forehead touch the earth and not a soft carpet during the salat. If you would pray on top of a high building it would be impossible for your forehead to touch the earth, how do we know if we shall still please Allah ?

It seems like Ike covered it from a spiritual perspective, but I would just add that the top of a building is just as much a part of the cosmos (and just as much under the dominion of Allah swt 😉) as the earth. I don’t think you need to draw this naturalistic division between ‘soil and concrete’ so to speak: Allah pervades every part of the cosmos, and every facet of your life, and you can submit to whichever face presents itself to you first (provided you adhere to the other requirements). This makes sense to me, no?

Well that doesn't make sense. It's more the meaning behind it, I feel. As sheikh Murad explained, the forehead is a symbol of pride. As long as you put that symbol of pride on the ground where you put your feet, that's a sufficient self-humbling action towards Allah. I honestly see no point in emphasizing that the surface whereon you put your head should be earth, as that doesn't really go along with the fact that putting your head on any type op ground surface wheren you put your feet is humbling towards Allah. Unless that has been emphasized in the Quran or sunnah.... But than I would still not know the meaning behind it.

High building or short building is irrelevant in my opinion as any mosque these days is elevated from the natural surface level anyways

@@irfangullbhat Perhaps poeple can take some sand from Mecca and spread it on a small piece of cloth in front of them , so they can make their forehead touch the ( holy ) ground.

@@ultrasignificantfootnote3378 well if you think it is important but in my opinion we can trust Allah in this matter
