Here is an episode of Sale of the Century from early 1984. Dawn needs to win with at least $78 to win the massive $99,000 cash jackpot. Can she do it? No copyright infringement is intended.

Gotta love the drama Jim created with the speed round and his "that's right!" and how serious he asked the questions. RIP Jim Perry.

Dawn McKellar's loss was David Rogers' gain.

The Cash Jackpot went to $100,000 on Sale of the Century after this episode aired, two weeks before David Rogers' major six-figure Cash Jackpot of $109,000 victory, and two and a half months before Michael Larson's major six-figure cash and prize win of $110,237 on Press Your Luck. They knew why CBS could not stop him, and neither Ed Long and Janie Litras-Dakan could not stop him when it was too late, and CBS did indeed air his show as a two parter, and the show is also for viewing.

All prices are manufacturers' suggested retail values and are correct at the time of recording. Due to technical difficulties, one of the Instant Bargains has been recreated. This is Jay Stewart speaking.

I wish they would have kept the Money Back Question as a permanent thing, or, in addition to running random Sale Surprises, the "Rapid Refund" - occasionally, you buy something and no question needed, your purchase price is refunded in full.

@ 20:50 Looks Like the Cash Jackpot has made it to Six Figures on $ale of the Century on NBC, But if this happens to be in Down Under Rules it will now be worth $150,000 however $750 will give you $218,071 in Cash and Prizes.

And that's why they dropped the 3 questions from the end of the game. It gave the other contestants a chance to come back.

Judging from the cash jackpot total this must not be too far from David Rogers's major six-figure cash jackpot win

Not sure why it took me ten months to watch it, but this is probably the second-most exciting episode I have seen. Was this part of the notorious NBC purge?

Imagine if Dawn was Alice Konkrite. She would've turned all those instand bargains down for nothing in the end.

So, was this particular cash jackpot eventually claimed at a higher amount? Or, was this when they got rid of it?

They asked a question right after the Instant Bargains to give the player the sum of the bargain back? How long did that practice last, I wonder?
@theuneditedfungameschannel72959 жыл бұрын
johnnysama They probably only did it for a short time to see if it would work as a full time gimmick. It's decent, but I can see why they dropped it.

BTW, I'd like to ask this, what was the cash jackpot on the episode when the numbers replaced the week's faces in the Fame Game board and when did the speed round premiered?
@megamanj2004X9 жыл бұрын
The Speed Round debuted sometime earlier in March of 1984. There's the February 1984 already uploaded on here but without the Speed Round.

Well at least in this channel, he, Jared Oswald, Nick(TVLubber) and catnap72 did upload this show once before but got hit by WorldWinner, and only catnap survived, otherwise with $ale, a little later, the uploading ban on YT had been lifted and people have been uploading a lot of that show since without any problem.

@MountainHawkPYL8 жыл бұрын

One gripe I have about the cash jackpot as a prize. You're buying with money to get money as a prize. Kind of stupid if you ask me. At least people won it.
@JoeyLamontagne7 жыл бұрын
It does seem weird, but they did change it.
@blindsportslover7 жыл бұрын
Kei Nanjo that's why I always preferred having the cash jackpot as a bonus on the syndicated run.
@bmasters19816 жыл бұрын
Actually, from what I recall hearing, the money with which you bought that prize was credits that you built up from all your wins, and so long as you won, you could take the prize at the level you achieved, or keep trying for more; but if you lost, goodbye big prizes.

hdayejr Of all the game shows they're rebooting today, this one should return to daytime TV instead of prime time. I think Chris Harrison from Who Wants to be a Millionaire would be a good host.
