What exactly is the difference between a Price rule and the discount schedule? when to use what?

Discount Schedule is for the scenario where you want the price to be discounted (by a %age or amount) if the Quote Line quantity / term duration is in a specific range. You can associate this to a Product in many ways - like directly on the Product or on a Product Option/Feature when the product is sold in a bundle. Price Rules offer much more flexibility, where you can update the Price based on complex criteria. For example, if my Quote is associated with a 'Gold Tier' partner I should offer 10% discount on a specific Quote Line or (in association with Lookup Queries), if I want the price to be based of the different Attribute values selected and mapped against a table. In fact, with Price Rules you can update quote / quote line fields other than price also. However, if your use case can be met through a Discount Schedule, definitely use that over Price Rules.

The video was great head start for me. But one thing i still did not understand is the difference when we give the aggregate scope as quote or as group. And if i have provided the block pricing as well as discount schedules, will it give any extra impact to the products or it will work in a normal fashion. It would be helpful if you can explain that.

If the selected parent product is 1 year old, how can we apply a 10% discount to the whole bundle?

Great explanation! Is it possible to have tier discounts based on past order qty for a specific period of time? Ex. if past order items reached 2500 units in the last month we can give a 10% discount on the quote.
