Great vid , I've just bought the Salewa Litetrek Pro iii and I'm in the process of modifying it, with two tabs on the bottom back hem to give it more taught of the flysheet plus a tab on each side of the flysheet to stop the middle section blowing into the inner, but if you peg it out properly and taught sides and back, they shouldn't move to much inwards, I've also made a gear loft from a spare air mesh bag from one of my sleeping bags that I use when keeping the sleeping bag aired ... and fits perfectly... the other thing when the rear of the tent is hit by strong winds, the poles will bend inwards , so I've used guy lines and peged each side out and made it more taught and in really severe winds I've used trekking poles to create and even stronger hold on the poles , making it completely solid all round 👍plus I've used it the other weekend and it's the first tent I've had that hasn't got condensation through the night ... don't know if that's something to do with the Pro version with different materials as I've also got the Salewa Sierra Leone II and that gets condensation big time ...

Thanks for a great review! I have to make one point though. The outer tent works fine even against heavy wind if you pull and fix the corners far enough. The inner tent is attached to the corners with adjustable straps and you need to make sure they're not too tight - otherwise they pull the corners in and leave the outer tent walls loose. I have the Litetrek 3 and I couldn't be happier with it! Can recommend for anyone looking for a free standing, compact, lightweight, easy to pitch tent for rougher conditions.

Thank you for that, I must play around with it the next time I'm out.

This is a alpin tent. Therefore it has to be put on small groundplaces in the mountains. Wenn you dont have large grasslands. Because of that it has such a small vestibule. To save floorspace. And the pitching on construction is to save time in every windy circumstancies in the rockys. A very very well thought out tent. Pitching on and off in minutes, even late in the evening with or without sunlight. I like it very much. Thank you for your review with greetings from germany.

Yup, I agree with everything you said I also really like the tent. But more storage space would have been great. Thanks for you kind words. Beannachtaí ó Éirinn (Greetings from Ireland)

I am not so sure, so this tent is the 3 season litetrek 2 the 4 season tent is the litetrek 2 PRO, although it looks exactly the same and maybe just the differences in materials....but not sure.

Excellent review! Just tried it in around 0˚C, it was great, but my feet were cold from the big mosquito net on the door. Will have to cover it with something :D

Get the 3 person version most of your issues will be nullified !!! Remember with most tents 1 = 1 no gear. 2 = 1 with gear and 3 = 2 with gear !!! And so on 😊

Thanks for a great review! I've almost bought this tent, but after understanding that there's no way to fix the tent side against the ground (which you show at 6:36) - that looks like a dealbreaker to me. I'm surprised that you're saying that it's a minor issue ) But, once again - thanks a lot for covering it!

might be a late reply from me but i thought the same thing; its definitely a dealbreaker for me too. On alpine terrain it might be somewhat fine but when you are facing lot of winds AND a downpour of heavy rain.... it can be a major issue.
@kevinharding1181 Жыл бұрын
Easy to solve that problem with a few crocodile clips, small lengths of bungee and small stakes.
@tophmyster11 ай бұрын
Late, but for anyone else: This is mainly an issue with setup. There are adjustable straps inside the fly for the inner tent, if you loosen those you can peg out the fly much tighter and it won't flap. Can take a little tweaking but once you've got it, you'll be sorted. Hope this helps others who might have thought it a deal-breaker!

Would you still recommend it? I am also based in Ireland and I am on the look for a tent that can cope with high winds and loads of rain. Vango looks like a a pretty popular choice too. The Hydra would be selfstanding too but heavier... Thanks for your recommendations 👍

After using it for a month, just after a few days it got a slight amount of mold stains on the inside green fabric. I already cleaned that away with vinegar and washed it for 1 hour with warm water. Now the stains are much less visible but i didn't manage to get them out completely. A bit sad but its a tiny thing that is really only visible if you pay very close attention. Still looks like new. This tent feels very good quality i love everything the colour combination is beautiful. Also my poles cracked easily and developed small cracks fast after a few days, i was very careful with the tent. Theres this metal thing you slide over so i'm fine, its just not as beautiful. I guess its because its made in china hopefully, bad quality control.

I always have a feeling that Salewa tents are always smaller than competitors, I mean 2 is 1.5 or 1 plus dog 😉 and bagpack 🤷
@MountainMikesAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Haha, I'd have to agree, thankfully, as I said in the video I'm fairly short so it did help quite a bit. At least it got the doggie seal of approval ha!

Haha a 2 man is never a 2 man with virtually any tent (maybe the 6 Moons Lunar Duo or Durston 2 Mid, both of which have a lot of space). 2 almost always means 1.5 and a 1 man means a coffin 🤣

Looks like a great tent for 2 little small people and a dog😊 Loved the review style with a smile and the clip system seems to get around the potential lack of space for storage or cooking in poor weather. A great place to try it out at the beautiful Annagh Strand👍

Yeah, I'm interested to see how it holds up myself on a mountain side. I feel optimistic it would preform well under tougher conditions. I will comment back on this when I do find that out.

I've had this tent for years, I have camped all over and mostly in bad weather as that's when I prefer to camp. It has always performed beautifully. My only gripe with it is (other than the small vestibile) is the condensation.
