The popular vote system in democracy is defective as it gives a false impression of the majority. 100 person in a village wanted to arrange a vote for their staple food. 25 people have voted for rice 23 people have voted for bread 20 people voted for Corn 19 people voted for oats 13 people voted for maize In the popular vote rice will win and those who have not chosen rice have to eat rice. 75 % of people voted against rice, but their vote is useless in the popular vote. We must go for proportionate vote and parliament seats must be distributed according to the proportion of votes they got. we have 300 parliament seats. The party with a 10% vote will get 30 parliament seats. In our country, it's very difficult to get above 51% vote for one party. But in the popular vote, a party can get 75% of seats by getting 37% of votes but other parties will get only 25% of seats even if they got 63% of votes.
