You have to turn the Hanna salinity in circles underwater to get the air out of it. Then allow it to stabilize just like you were taking a thermometer reading…

I also just got the hanna, tested reference solution in a drinking glass and noticed air bubbles forming on one of the graphite sensor which lowered the salinity until the bubble releases and suddenly salinity shot up. This process repeated itself. If this is normal, I can imagine you have to keep the tester moving to get good results

Purchased a laboratory grade glass hydrometer. I've been using it for about 4 years accurate and fast! Totally happy with it.

Дима, спасибо за видос. Все как всегда на высоте! Очень полезно и информативно получилось. Я вот буквально пару дней получил hydrometer и очень им доволен. Некий золотой стандарт. Правда мерять немного геморно получается. Что скажешь о пробнике от Apex контролера? В моем случае он завышал аж на три единицы (ppm), что мне кажется критично. Хотя делал калибровку и проверял на предмет «завоздушивания» самого пробника. Не уж то ли бесполезная функция…

я с этим Апексом боролся тоже - там принцип, как и у Ханны - иногда работает, иногда нет, и вот это занижение или завышение не постоянно - как мы уже убедились, у меня он стоит на аквариуме, но я за ним не слежу и ему не доверяю особо - он хорош просто показать, когда совсем что-то не туда пошло. Хотя у моего приятеля он работает не плохо. Да, и еще там очень важно где находится пробник и даже где проходит сам кабель, потому что помехи могут на него влиять.

On the Hanna handheld you're supposed to tap it when you're in the calibration solution so there is no air bubbles. You're also supposed to put it in the water shake it and then re put it in the water when you're testing the water so there's also no air bubbles.

Everybody must read the specs and understand the precision and accuracy of each measurement instrument. It is impossible to compare apple with orange. The calibration reference has an accuracy, the instrument another accuracy and we are bias with what result we want to have.

Agreed, but in the end - I want a way to just check my salinity and know that it is in a good range.

I find my Milwaukee to be quite accurate and Milwaukee pH monitors and controllers are far superior to Pinpoint. I threw my Pinpoint's in the trash.

I've learned that the tick with Milwaukee is to give it at least 30 seconds before taking the actual measurement.
