I feel I should know you, I live in Devizes south, the Andover road and visit the plain on a regular basis, mostly using Redhorn Hill as the access point.

a great video wish I could still ride bikes but I am disabled and sense of balance is very poor now all the great bike groups now but not when I was younger thank you for your time

you should have a look at some 800cc 4wd honda quad bikes they are easy to drive you can select 2 or 4wd fully manual or automatic gearboxes and you can have racks front and bk as well as wincheches and land anchors to aid in sticky situations, there are some good used ones out there with basic setups for around £3,000.

ive just purchased an enduro for days like this. i live only a few miles from the plains so easy access. Wheres the best place to start off for a beginner?..ive heard the junction where bulford road meets tidworth road? is that good?

Jake36183 There's a gravel road that runs around the complete perimeter of Salisbury Plain which is easy enough to find and to ride on. There are some byways which are sign posted but unfortunately there are riders who just ride anywhere which causes issues with the Army. Best bet is to found your local TRF group and get involved with them on a ride out to the Plains.

Garmin Montana 600 using Basecamp on pc with 1:50 GB mapping software.

do you get any grief over them illegal size plates on the plains from police or are they just checking your taxed/insured/mot'd?

Not stopped by police but you would need to be aware they would be within their rights to expect legal sized plates. Up to individual riders to make that decision.

Hi. I ride across the Plains from time to time,not at the moment due to covid, when things ease I'm happy to meet and take you round the Plains, but more interesting if you could come to Swindon or Marlborough where far more interesting lanes.

KTM Steve well I am looking at hopefully doing the French tet when lock down eases. Would be great to meet up with you to do some trails if you know them. I live in Essex so it’s a bit of a journey to get there but I do have a few friends in Salisbury so I could leave from there some time.

No real hills or steps on Salisburg Plain, just lots of mixed gravel, grass and even harder in wet weather chalk and clay trails.

As a member of Wiltshire TRF I'd suggest joining the TRF - you can come to our monthly meeting - 1st Tuesday of the month in Devizes to see what an active group we are and then go from there.

I live in Bratton and regularly see these yobbos tearing round the plain not givin a jot whether a dog might run out in front of them! 😡

That might be true of some motorcyclists, but by no means all of us - as a 66 year old who stops for horses, walkers, cyclists etc when out enjoying my reasonable hobby with thousands of other safe and sensible motorcyclists who enjoy the freedom and beauty of our countryside I'd like to think you might reconsider putting us all in the same bracket - just a thought.
