I woke up today with a white spot on my iris. I went in immediately and it was an ulcer. I'm taking antibiotic eye drops every hour. Hopefully it heals. 🙏
@TarePandaHelp Жыл бұрын
@Aisyah Zamn The drops were Ofloxacin, and it took a month until I could put a contact back in. Which was surprising because I was told I caught it very early. It was a small, almost pen point white dot. A whole month with only one contact was a horrible experience. Im never sleeping with contacts ever again.

I am now age 45. From age 12, I started to have reocurring corneal ulcers. Age 12 to 15, doctors didn't explain to my mom and myself what it was. Through the years, saw several doctors and many different eye drops were prescribed. At age 13, I learnt I am allergic to MAXITROL eye drops. At first doctors thought was puberty and acne. It was s0ome kind of rash on my face. Was terrible for a 12, 13 year old. Fast forward to present, I must have tobradex eye drops just in case my eyes "act up". I always use eye lubricant. I have been told I have corneal ulcers, keratitis, anterior ocular disease. Usually my right eye gets one ulcer or two first. Then my left eye. Most times it's a few ulcers. I have yet to meet someone that have this same reocurring corneal ulcers. I never got an explanation about the cause. Never used contact lenses, started to use prescription glasses from age 24, was not in any accident that may have affected my eyes. I honestly thought is my own body creating the ulcers.

@Aisyah Zamn I have been using Tobradex for approximately 20 to 25 years now. In the last 10 years, I have used tobradex a lot less. Not as often. I am am not working a regular job. Working at home now. Stay out of traffic and sun more now than 10 years ago.

@Crystal676777 Жыл бұрын
I’d absolutely love to hear about your experience in further detail with your use of Tobradex, because I too, at age 28 am experiencing recurring corneal ulcers and have yet to have any information as to the root cause, after a myriad of testing. Unfortunately, my left eye perforated due to unresolved ulcerative scars from prior ulcers, and am now going through a complete lifestyle change after being told similar things: “it’s your acne, it’s your rosacea” but nothing more. Any time my eyes were to act up, I was given Tobradex as a bandaid, but I truly believe that’s been the cause of all of this to begin with. I too have yet to find someone who has had a similar case, and it would be amazing to have someone to talk to.

You didn't mention RK or Lasix scars opening up into an ulcer. This happened to me after 20 years of healed. Perhaps from dry eye? I almost lost my sight and the infection is gone but the ulcer just won't heal after 4 years. It's scary to think it can get infected again at any moment.

Have this for over my lifetime, when im yoing my right eye there wasn't any scarring only cataract. As i grow the scarring in my right kept getting worse, it almost cover the middle and bottom of my eye, my parents(especially my mother) thought my condition came from my father's family part, we're also poor, so they stop coming through eye doctors to check my right eye since.
