They're pretty good. Sounds ten times better inside with the head perfectly dry. The morning I filmed this the ground was still damp so the hide's a bit loose.

A great help, thank you so much. Paired with your tablature, you make these songs easy to learn - which is a truly beautiful thing. Love this tuning.

Clifton, you bring something unique to a banjo, after all, it's an instrument, a vessel; it's the player that can express himself and pour his soul out through it. You do just that. I do however like the sound of old banjos, nylguts, mountain banjos, the fretless and even gourd that you keep featuring. Brother, I either have a banjo made by you or go out and get one of those I mentioned- I would compensate well. Have to figure out how to contact you first. Will try your Facebook perhaps.

Hi Mr hicks, I have a question for you. Firstly a little context. I have a banjo that has a broken neck. I'm having trouble finding a fretless replacement neck. I have a fully functional banjo but I would like my other one to be playable again. So here's my question. Would you be willing/able to make a fretless neck for the banjo, if I were able to send you the body? If so how much would you charge for that? If not would you be able to direct me to one? If you can't do any of those, thank you for at least reading my question. I love listening to your music, seeing the instruments you have made and learning banjo playing ideas that you share. Thank you again for even reading my comment.

Bravo Clifton bravissimo, but the strings name is Áquila, not Aquìla, 'Ah-kwela not Ak'weela. I swear on it, I'm a true bred Italian, believe me. Áquila, like Opera. And keep up the good work your videos are fantastic

Thank you ! I will be sure to pronounce it correctly in the future 😂

Sean, a couple years ago I was sent some gut strings from a company called Gamut. Their strings are expensive but very good.

Awesome stuff mate. Is it true that standard banjo steel strings won't really work on a frettless banjer in that you have to use nails to fret with them to acheive volume & tone ? Cheers, Joel
@SineHacker Жыл бұрын
I don't know about steel strings, but I have a fretless strung with nylgut and I just use the pads of my fingers to pretty good effect I think
