14:12 "This wasn't the script but...we have this ability to rewrite the story. No one can live our lives except us. ... I'm either just going to sit and complain about how uncomfortable I am and get to the finish line, or I'm just going to embrace that and see how WELL I can be uncomfortable and get to the finish line." Sally was talking about a race, but what a powerful message for life... So many inspirational moments in this podcast.. this may well have literally changed my life. Thank you both.

Thank you Cameron for this podcast and for talking with Sally. Thinking about Sally and her childhood, her new book, I found this meaningful passage by psychiatrist Robert Jay Lifton, who wrote: We human beings are meaning-hungry creatures. For survivors that's doubly so. When people undergo very great trauma, they either close down or open out. I called the closing-down "psychic numbing," by which I mean a diminished capacity or inclination to feel. There are times when people need to be silent because it isn't possible for them to speak. But as they emerge from that silence, as they sometimes could in their dialog with me, they could increasingly confront what they had been through. And a certain amount of emergence from that silence, from the numbing, is necessary for survivors to begin to play the role of agents of renewal. There are survivors who have emerged as the basis and baseline for social change [...] They are giving their extreme trauma, their victimization, a sense of meaning and purpose. And that has a definite healing impact.

I've been a fan of Sally's for awhile now. I work on an emergency response helicopter in Florida; this morning myself and my aircraft mechanic were talking about how incredible this interview was and how much we admire you both! I'm inspired by the fellas you interview Cam, but was scrolling to find an interview with a tough and passionate lady and I found it :) :) I oddly want to take up archery all of a sudden. Ha!
