Hi! I’m so glad you found this video helpful!! The Arches oil paper is great and does not need any prep before you begin painting in cold wax and oils.❤️

Yeah...every time I see something new that looks fun, I dive in. I’ve been painting in acrylics for close to 50 years, so now I am incorporating mixed media with that, and some of a little bit of everything else. I’m trying to learn watercolors, but it’s been tough.

Very beautiful ! Can you tell me how you are going to remove the stain that has overflowed on the white border? Thank you!
@SallyVanNuysMixedMediaArtist2 жыл бұрын
Well, it’s not supposed to happen but you can try alcohol or gamsol on a cotton swab to take some off, but it usually leaves some staining of the paper.
@ghys142 жыл бұрын
@@SallyVanNuysMixedMediaArtist ah. It is not miraculous... It's a pity. Thank you very much for the information!

@@ghys14 In this case, I would simply add a matte and frame, which will cover the stain. All is not lost.

I've been working with cold wax and oil for awhile. The torn paper masks are a good technique to try. I've been struggling. Also, I apparently have not let the gamsol sit long enough. Thanks for the vid.
@SallyVanNuysMixedMediaArtist4 жыл бұрын
Tracy Hansen hi thanks for watching! It took me a while to get the timing down for the Gamsol to work. 20 seconds seems to work well...but when you scrape it off, just barely touch the surface! I love the torn paper marks! ❤️

Did you mix the cold wax with the paint?
@SallyVanNuysMixedMediaArtist4 жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes, you mix the oil with the paint. About a 50/50 mixture. Mix it until the color loses its sheen. There are more oil and cold wax videos in my playlist with more instructions if you’d like to watch and learn more.

@@SallyVanNuysMixedMediaArtist thanks Sally for your quick reply. I've just bought some cold wax. I'm going to try it with my oil bar sticks. Can't wait to get stuck in x
@SallyVanNuysMixedMediaArtist4 жыл бұрын
Janice You can use the oil sticks for drawing into the cold wax that you’ve already applied to your a substrate. It will take a good amount of your stick to actually mix a pile of color on a palette to apply with a tool (the sticks are expensive!) I would recommend some tube oils if you don’t want to use up your sticks really fast. I use mostly water mixable oils so I don’t have to clean up with solvents. If you have any more questions just ask. Always happy to help.

@@SallyVanNuysMixedMediaArtist thanks Sally, I also have water soluble oils, so will try them first Thanks for the tips!

@@SallyVanNuysMixedMediaArtist Dear Sally, in case you use water soluble oil paints with cold wax how then you clean your tools without solvent?
