Salmon Fishing Ambience - Knot Tying and whisky tasting Session

The perfect Salmon Fishing Venue is the River Spey in Scotland, A classic fast flowing river full of character and with so many different salmon fishing opportunities.
This Knot tying exercise was filmed on the Tulchan Sporting Estate, somewhere with a deep history of salmon fishing on the river spey and connections to the royal family and King George 5th who fished there in the early 1920s.

Nice video Ian. Drone footage of the Spey is fun to see. Knot vids are useful but need to be close up with good lighting to show people how it's done. Hard to explain a double turle if it can't be well seen. Keep the vids coming. Trying to get a few vids myself from the Fochabers water this season after re-joining.

Great Video Ian, thanks for posting. Looks like a great fishing course you are running their - I am assuming its a course and not a standard day. I am surprised that you dont use fluorocarbon leader material ; and if nylon I thought the ghillies choice was maxima - not Berkely ? Just wondered about that. Interesting comments about the refraction of leader material that has been heated and 'embrittled' during knot tightening. I am determined to learn the double Turle before my first trip this season. Thanks

john smith hi John, no, the courses are three days of reaching both casting and, depending on which course, some fishing too. As part of those I do some knot tying and fly tying. I used Maxima for all my fishing life, however, since working for Pure fishing, I found Berkeley and really like it. I’ve never liked Flurocarbon.
