Very cool Troy. I always appreciate these comments. I love teaching kids how to fish and knowing they are watching my videos makes it special. Thats why I try and keep my videos PG and informative, and always try and show how to handle fish properly. Thanks for watching my channel. Salmon is best august/ early September along the sf coast. Its hot now but fish are moving a lot. Those months they are all along the coast in 30-100' of water.

Someday, still a little intimidating by the whole process. Good reminder on the Coho. I've actually seen them in the kelp when freediving. Pretty cool. How bad is parking at the launch? How about when you came back in ? My fear is not getting a parking spot.
@ChrisPfish24 жыл бұрын
yeah you forget about the coho, until you catch one. Thats so cool seeing them in the kelp, I bet you see steelhead too? Parking is brutal. I got there 545 and main lot already filled. Got one of the last spots on the dirt hill. When I came back at 830 no a single boat there, everyone was on the water. Its my fear too, next time I will go even earlier. Thanks for watching!

@@ChrisPfish2 I haven't seen the Steelies in the kelp yet. The cohos were in Santa Barbara in about 40 feet of water. Looks like I am going to have to take days off to hit it out there. I'm sure it's impossible on Saturday/Sunday right now.

Oh boy, i love them both, thats why I rotate. Solo is the most rewarding after a good day on the water. Solo there isnt pressure, you cant be late, only you to second guess all your moves. With someone, you have company, you get to laugh, you build friendships.

What type of hooks are you using when I used to fish the West coast we'd take all them hooks that came with the lures off and put them gamagusu on they're a whole lot sharper and they'll penetrate the salmon's mouth a whole lot better using those factory hooks that come on the lures ain't worth the s*** learned that the hard way there
@gabrielvilgalys79744 жыл бұрын
hey man, love watching the content but what happens to the rubber band after you hook up? I know we all run the risk of losing tackle when we fish, but this seems like it's needlessly adding plastics to our oceans? Gutted to lose a camera man! What a shame!
@ChrisPfish24 жыл бұрын
yeah for sure I hear you about the rubber band. Let me find something else that works. If that hook with the rubber band goes into the fish you get the rubber band back, but still i get the point. I dont understand how sinker release weights are still legal. I feel like the environmentalists must not know or something. Seems like common sense that shouldnt be allowed. Thats why I paid for downriggers. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

don't bonk your fish just bleed it. dead fish don't bleed you need a heart beat to pump out the blood. i don't know who started the bonk thing. put water in your bucket half full to keep the fish alive tell it bleeds out. or just cut the gill and drag the fish on a rope beside the boat for five minutes watch for seals.

From the under water camera footage it looks like the salmon are attracted to the bait but turned off by the smell, probably from your hands when you were handling it. I heard its better to spray your hands with WD40 or rub it with dead bait first, to kill your human scent from your hands.
