Beginning in the summer of 1980 I worked deck on many tuna boats off of Point Loma. Thus began my 30 year commercial tuna fishing 🐟 love affair. Huge spots of fish so large, I could bearly get the trolling lines out before they were ripping it out of my hands. Memories of a nourishing ocean I hold to this day. I was 24.

I gillnet and they separate the pink and sockeye springs and so on i see you get pumped out and sockeyes way more then pink doller wise how do you get paid by the fish with multiple boats delivering to the same packer ?

Ya we sort it all at the tender boat - the fish get sucked up a tube and there’s a few ppl at the end of the line sorting the fish into differnt bins

With the abalone, for years now we've had overseas poachers come up from San Francisco, Berkeley, and Oakland ( the Bay Area) who rarely get caught. The law abiding locals report them but nothing happens. The "migrant" poachers take undersized, easy to hide. Same with crabs and fish.
