Thanks for the comment Martin and tight lines.

That was amazing Paul. Is the dry fly just dead drifting back? No drag or skating?
@MrKingfisher33 жыл бұрын
Just a dead drift.

Great video, I've followed your channel for ages, thanks. It fascinating to see the different tactics being employed (successfully) on the Lee now for salmon. I know that it's more so the technique than the fly pattern, but out of interest, what were you fishing? A deer hair emerger or a Klinkhammer, something along those lines? Also, do you think a drag free drift is important or is a bit of a wake a good thing? Thanks again. I grew up fishing the Lee, live in the UK now.

Also, how light were you fishing tippet wise? I suppose a loop would help, but I imagine 8 lb copolymer at most?
@MrKingfisher33 жыл бұрын
Drag free drift and 6x tippet more like 3.5 lbs.

Dear Paul, Thank you very much for video... What your impression from Taimen wading jacket? Especially waterproofness and breathability
@MrKingfisher33 жыл бұрын
Could do with a proper pocket layout, it is waterproof had it through some heavy showers, not really breathable but it was on sale so its okay.

what weight rod were you using and what kind of leader. ive gotten salmon myself before in dusk but never in the actual night
@MrKingfisher33 жыл бұрын
Hi Timothy, I was using a 7lb furled leader of about 3ft and a tippet of about 9ft of 6x or 3.5lbs flurocarbon. The rod I made myself is a soft 5wt 10ft .

@@MrKingfisher3 does the soft action make a big difference?
@MrKingfisher33 жыл бұрын
Yes the soft action protects the lighter tippets but still has enough power to turn a salmon being a 5wt. I bought the blank and made up the rod myself, could do with a slightly stiffer tip for better turnover of flies into a wind but it has landed numerous salmon, big trout and monster rainbows so I'm very happy with it.

@@MrKingfisher3 what company blank did you buy ?
@MrKingfisher33 жыл бұрын
It was a one off reduced sale price blank from some norwegian rod company can't remember their name.

I'm traveling down to Kilkenny for salmon this Sunday to fish the Nore. Do you have any tips or what do you think our chances are of hooking a salmon?🎣🎣 Also great video keep it up any advice?
@MrKingfisher33 жыл бұрын
I haven't fished the Nore but I would definitely check out water height and clarity before heading down. If high water probably spinning is best but if it's fly only heavy sink tip or sinking fly line with a tube for depth. I always fish bigger brighter flies in floods, something with bright yellow or lime green on it that shows up in bad clarity. Best of luck.

Your pulling our plonkers, you did not show us the flee in the salmons mouth or the dry flys tied on your leader. lol
