Great advice. Definitely have to persevere with fishing for Salmon. It looks easy when you see everyone's videos of landing a bar of silver but always remember there is plenty of fruitless days on a river fishing for salmon that we don't make videos about. When you do eventually land one, it makes it all the more worth while tho!

Hi Noel, good video and a nice salmon! I think you could only succeed if you believe in your abilities. That is, so I think, what will improve your fishing. Glenda shows us everytime with her serenity and ease how easy it could be to catch a salmon. Great!👍 All the best and tight lines from 🇦🇹🤠🎣

Nice video and a bonny fish, well done Glenda. Noel, you could do in investing in a better camera with a clearer picture, sorry to criticise. Keep up the good work. Cheers Ewan from Scotland. 👍

Hi Ewan ,thanks for the support and feedback it's really appreciated ,this video was shot at 1080p on a gopro hero3 + black and a mavic air 2 drone but uploaded as an .mp4 file (usually .mov ) to help file size ,as I've major internet connection issues at the moment and maybe the KZbin compression is to much for the file to handle ,but I've found a fix for the uploading now . The next one should be a much clearer experience. Hope you are enjoying your season, what part of Scotland are you in ? ,I absolutely love your country although I've only visited four or so times . Thanks Noel.

Hi Noel, ah, I see. Im from Central Scotland, Falkirk. So very handy for most of all our big rivers Tay, Spey, Dee etc. Im just back from a couple of days on the R.Ness in the highlands, I dropped a fish but but ill be back! I love your country too, im usually over for 2 or three weeks every year, I love Mayfly time for the trout. I must get down and fish the Blackwater sometime.. I jad fish off the Moy and Carrowmore lake last year as well as Sea Trout from Currane fishing with Neil O'Shea. I hope Covid settles down so I can get over next year. All the best Noel for the rest of the season, tight lines! Cheers Ewan.

The Ness is definitely on my hitlist ,I've talked with a Ghillie who works on it, Gordon Armstrong is his name, about the river, I was also suppose to be on the Tay this year ,but that's life .Neil and Tom are pure gents and we plan to visit them before the season ends. Thanks again Noel.

Lovely fish, great work! Not sure you'll see this but I was salmon fishing twice earlier this year with rented equipment and am now considering buying some gear rather than renting. I was wondering if you had a recommendation of whether I should get a double handed salmon/Spey rod or else something like a switch rod? In terms of an initial set up for the line would you recommend a scandi set up for rivers such as the blackwater (the line set up looks to be the most confusing as I'm not 100% sure what I used when renting but think it was with scandi with sink tip and double hook wet fly)? Looks like total set UK cost for rod, reel and line will be right €350 I'm in no major rush to buy the gear as will only get out once more between now and when the season closes so have you any thoughts on whether I'd be better getting the stuff around now or holding off until after the season ends when there might be sales on. Appreciate there's lots in this but any help would be great thanks!

Hi dob dob , thanks for your support, as regards equipment, for the Blackwater here in Cork/Waterford we recommend a rod of between 13ft and 14ft matched with a scandi style shooting head. I personally use a 13ft rod and guideline 3d heads. Guests at the fishery are given the use (foc) of a kit consisting of 13ft9in Shakespeare Oracle teamed up with Rio Scandi (580gr) shooting heads and inty, slow & fast sink tips. This kit, we believe will get you through the season and is a great inexpensive setup for all casting abilities. If you wish to spend more Glenda can help you try out the LTS range of rods etc. Always worth keeping an eye on the shops for a bargain if time is not a major issue ,also alot are also taking trade ins and this may be worth looking at. I hope this helps you in your choices.

@@noelfitzmaurice2620 hi Noel. Thanks so much for this. It's really helpful and looks like the set up you have for guests with the Shakespeare oracle could be a perfect set up to start with. Really appreciate the detailed reply!

If you need a guide contact Glenda, you'll find info in the video description. Hope this helps you. Thanks Noel.
