As a retired ex-pat living here in Australia, you bring back all the happy memories of days gone by. I hear the birds, smell the water and feel what you are feeling. big sigh, tight lines and thank you.

Hi Faither. (Dad). I am glad that it brings back good memories I bet that if you look at what you have and the more recent times you would not change a thing. I hope that I can give you some other old ones that you can sit with a can of Fosters and reminisce . All the very best Cheers Iain. 🥃

Is that the beat near Paxton House it is so lovely and relaxing there to go a walk and watch the men fish for the salmon on that lovely river .
@IainSB

The beat is just a short distance upstream from Floors Castle. The beat belongs to the Duke of Roxburgh. We were fishing just a short distance upstream from Kelso and its a beautiful part of the world William. If I wasn't an angler I think that I would be right there with you, but I much prefer to stand in the water wiggling a stick about🎣. Cheers Iain. 🥃

Nice one Iain. That gusty wind made it 'cast one, wait one', although it looked as though it calmed down a bit. The banks look like they've taken a bit of a hammering over time. Always enjoy your outings.🍺🍺

HI again Mr Mazo the Rumbler has a few trip hazards that have been washed down from the bank collapsing . some of the subsurface tuffets are over a meter wide . Thanks for commenting on enjoying my efforts Cheers Iain. 🥃

A lovely video Iain and certainly some lovely fly water. There was certainly plenty of effort in challenging conditions. I was with you with very cast you made. I also enjoyed the short segment with your guest casting instructor. Again thank you sharing

What a beautiful place, are there any other species of fish in the river other than salmon and trout, total respect to the gents for there display of casting, I'm a beach angler and my best cast was 232yds but I'm nowhere close to their league Thanks Nik Grimmett...
@IainSB

you can certainly get the distance with your casting Nik . I think that when it comes to our passion fly casting is something that we have practised for years and if we had a chance to get on the shore we would look like amateurs and probably head off to the pub before lunch Keep at it before the seals get all the fish. Cheers Iain. 🥃

Very varied beat by the looks of it- I know it's not a 'how-to' video and I really enjoy the scenery ,but maybe a quick mention/ shot of the fly you're fishing- and line if you can be bothered. Regardless-carry on !
@IainSB
@IainSB Жыл бұрын
Thanks Tom I do mention in some of my videos my fly and the lines that I use . Because I fish mainly with one fly I have had a couple of comments suggesting that I should just fish rather than mentioning my favourite fly. I do mention my set up and tactics now and again and next season I will try again to spend time showing my fly and giving some detail into the lines I use Cheers Iain. 🥃

I found myself repeating at every cast .....this one, this one! The whole scene, although a bit bright, looked so promising.....that's how it goes sometimes but in any event we get so much out of just being there...😎👍👍

Thanks Shaun There are a lot of beats where you only fish Ghillies hours and sometimes they will allow you to fish on . I am not sure if it has anything to do with insurance or if if has just gone this way over the years . I was away yesterday on an un Ghillied beat.. up at 3am had breakfast .....got sorted drove 84 miles and was on the river for 5am .... sometimes I do get out of bed early I will try edit the video soon Cheers Iain 🥃

Nice fishing Iain. Lovely water that. Do you ever get the urge to put on a totally different fly, maybe the Sunray, to stir things up? I know your EBS's get more than their fair share of takes!

The Scenery and the company were excellent Steve . the Ghillies tried hard to get us a fish and chatted to us with lots of encouragement . some of us met up for a beer and then a meal after which added to a couple of perfect days on the river Cheers Iain 🥃. I may join you in a glass of red wine this evening🍷

At least you have some nice water to fish, our rivers are all blown out and look like they will be that way for several more weeks . Oh well it’s spring time in the Rockies , this to shall pass . 🥃
