Live anchovies for those WSB in that area is what woulda worked! There arent really squid spawns out of the gate but the commercial halibut fishermen seem to catch them on the bar every year. Pretty sure we hooked one on live anchovies on the bar last year. Ran hard horizontally like they normally do. A month and a half later I caught a 70lber.

I have been watching most of your videos. I am wondering why you keep the boat moving when you have fish on. Over here in Washington, almost everyone stops the boat when we have a fish on.
@ChrisPfish22 жыл бұрын
Hi Joey, I keep it going to keep tension on the line and it helps control the fish. When I started I would stop and the fish would go under and to the other side, even to the front of the boat. This way the fish stays behind me and I can turn the boat to keep it on the side I want. More likely to tangle your other lines too if you had some in.

Love the video White Sea bass are normally caught with squid I have done trips in the San Fran area with anchovies and sardines what’s more important is you can try a dropper loop set up but locate them on the fish finder or the environment they are in drop to the bottom and wait if they are there they will hit current weather also. They normally look like a white ball a shadow on the fish finder. I never caught one mooching or trolling they are lazy fish.

I do love that reel, its a shimano trinidad 16a. it has the "star" drag, the other commenter suggests a Avet. Those are probably the most popular but I dont like the "level" drag. So the drag system is different on either reel. I like star and dont like level but I feel I am in the minority on that. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment

Hey Chris, what size ball do you use on your downriver when trolling for Salmon? Thanks. -Arie
@RIngels152482 жыл бұрын
He said it was 12lbs
@ChrisPfish22 жыл бұрын
I was using 12 pounds last year. I have 14 pounds this year from a company called 4-fins I am excited to try them out. It all comes down to how deep you want to go. Early season the fish are in 200-400 ft of water and if your dropping 150ft you need more weight so your line stays below the boat, the 4-fins are designed to turn and stay below the boat. If you going 40ft down in September you could get away with 10 pound. I would recommend 12-15 pounds.
@3one6tv2 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisPfish2 oh cool, I'll have to look into the 4-fins. Thanks for the tips Chris! I thoroughly enjoy all your videos! Keep 'em coming! -Arie

WOW! awesome unique video . With all the anchovies the WSB likely went on a wild dawn feeding frenzy and were just stuffed full.. Best chance is getting on the water early early and setting a cut of time to get your daily Salmon limit. If your have the time Twilight bite also works but running the bay at night is not for everyone.

Woah never seen so many white bass like that before. That gives me hope to catch one someday. I heard a two kayakers caught two right next to Oyster point and hunters point last year. Been wanting to go on a party boat down south for white Seabass but haven’t got a chance to. It was great seeing you last week at the Berkeley launch parking. It’s an honor man . Hope you and Jun did good last Saturday there were only a few boats about 100+ lol . Got two in the first 30 mins right next to the sailboat and the Rockwall.

Great timing on the video Chris. With the salmon opener coming up. I was curious to why you prefer the anchovies 4.5 to 5 inches over the bigger tray size? Is it the action of the smaller bait? The underwater footage was awesome.
@yippikiyay1972 жыл бұрын
Some folks think you catch more with that size because it's more attractive to all of the fish.
@ChrisPfish22 жыл бұрын
I like the smaller bait because it has a better presentation in my opinion in the krippled anchovy head. Thanks for watching, happy you enjoyed the footage.

WSB are usually caught on squid (live or fresh dead). That said, I've caught them on fin bait before, but it was larger bait than what you're trolling. They will also eat swim baits and iron. You may get one someday doing what you're doing though. Fun to see.
