Celebrating 400 years of the Parkash Purab (coming into the world) of the 9th Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, Basics of Sikhi presents this beautiful Gurbani Kirtan of Salok Mahalla 9.
Salok Mahalla 9 are letters written by the ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji in 1675 whilst being imprisoned in Delhi, India.
These letters were sent to the Sikhs in Sri Anandpur Sahib, including their mother, Mata Nanaki Ji, their wife, Mata Gujri Ji and their son, Sri Gobind Rai Ji, after the martyrdom of their three beloved Sikhs, Bhai Mati Das Ji, Bhai Sati Das Ji and Bhai Dayala Ji.
These letters epitomise Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s true state of detachment and emphasise the precious opportunity given to us in this life to connect to Vaheguru Ji.

I lost my family member a month back. And since then, I've been listening to this shabad. It's given me such a soothing releif and the feeling of anand of guru Sahibji being there by my side and making me understand how precious yet so undervalued this life is. :) Koti koti shukrana to guru teg Bahadur Sahib ji for writing this beautiful shlok. And deep thanks to basics of sikhi team for uploading this. It came to me in the right moment when I needed it. :) The day I lost my loved one, after I guess 2-3 days this video was uploaded. :) To others this might be a coincidence, but I know, it was my guru's kripa to bless me with this beautiful video. @@sainir02 Brother, am sorry for your loss. Just start reading salok mehla 9 and Japji sahib. You'll find peace too. Guru sahibji has written all these beautiful verses for us, his children only. If you can't read Gurmukhi do read with English translation. May waheguru ji bless you peace. :) Guru sahibji can't bring our loved ones back, but at least guru sahibji can teach us the true meaning of life na and why we're here?.. so let's just focus on that. :)

This is exactly how I feel in some way, I am not Punjabi In fact I am English but Sikhi is fascinating, and I feel the message in the video resonated with me when I can see the English translations, I like a lot of values about their faith, I am glad I have been able to visit their place of worship twice (usually from a friend or colleague inviting me) but have never gone on my own back, not sure why however I find these Online resources really helpful because a lot of it is translated in to my language, I get to understand more about their beliefs and well feel more connected to our place in this universe.
