I see myself in u hun. I'm a gov't worker, a certified make up artist an entrepreneur. I did entrepreneurship course at the university college. I luv entrepreneurship. Got that from my mum...she does a bit of every thing. I really want to quit job and open my own salon. It's like I wake up at dawn everyday having that salon idea so strong on my mind to the extent that when am at the office working, my mind is outside(inside my imaginary salon). I really really really wanna quit my job. I turned 30 in May. I feel like 30 is a new beginning to me. I pray to God to bless me and my husband financially so that we can open the salon soon. We've been married for 8 months now.

Hi Ritha ! Thanks for watching ! xoxo If you believe you will you will , with God all things are possible , their is nothing too hard for him. Write your dream and vision down on paper , write down everything to the tiniest detail. What does your dream look like, what does feel like, what does it smell like , then wake up everyday and doing something small towards your dream until it's a reality . I would recommend looking at salon suites and researching what leasing company would work best for you and your budget . Salon suites are a great way to run and operate a salon on a smaller scale before you open a big on full salon with bigger expenses . Allow s you to get your feet wet in entrepreneurship and small business to see if it's something you enjoy. May God keep you , direct you, guide you, and bless you with wisdom to go after the desires of your heart.

I just turned 33. I quit my government job and went to cosmetology school. The adjustment was rough at one point...but it was the best decision ever. I will graduate in April of 2019. Good luck.

Omggg, I have the same problem, only a few clients because the job I left would not let me establish a clientele...I was prohibited by contract not to poach clients or employees. Im debating whether to go into this industry now that im about to hit 30, ive searched and searched vidoes blogs ig profile kind of looking for excuses or reasons to not do it only because im scared of doing and failing . I Wanted to get into it so i wont work for anyone else but im hearing alot of people getting into salons under contract or commissions for experience and getting taken advantage of. Do you ever regret not going solo right away? Do you think its better to go solo right after school?

ijewelsi ! Hi no I’m glad I didn’t go solo right after school because I definitely needed to get grounded with experience before I went out on my own . I definitely don’t recommend anyone going to open a salon right after hair school . I would give yourself at least 3-5 years before you work for someone else learn & soak up all you can , become someone’s assistant, apprentice, shampoo girl under someone that has 10 plus years of experience I promise you that you won’t regret it . Consistency builds confidence!!!! Practicing the same thing over & over again. Also learn all you can about Marketing & Social Media too ! Honestly hair school doesn’t really prepare you for a salon it really just gives you a foundation to build off of . Hope this helps

Is it possible I can get your email I’m really looking into leaving commission and going to go to a suite and I feel like you can help so much 😩 I only know one person who is doing it and I feel like she’s to busy to help to answer my questions. I cut men’s hair mostly and I have a clientele but I’m not sure if it’s enough. I’m kind of stuck because I’m thinking of social media, cards and all these other ideas to help promote myself but I’m stuck at working on my IG before making cards.
