I live in Brazil and we don't have this stuff readily at the supermarket, so I finally made this because there's no cooking involved. LOVING IT! Thanks so much!

I blended it in my blender and turned it into a thick sauce. And you know what? It's amazing! :)
@juancastellon71834 жыл бұрын
Try it again, but just chop them and then mix the ingredients in a bowl. Blending all of these like you did I'm sure would be awesome on tacos.
@drdrew33 жыл бұрын
You can use a blender but best with PULSE mode so you can get exactly the consistency you desire

it's called "Pico de Gallo" or "Salsa Mexicana" too, because it has the red, white and green of the flag...very good and practical sauce
@thetoddsmith6 жыл бұрын
Sort of. But Pico De Gallo traditionally doesn't have oregano, mint or garlic.
@arthorim4 жыл бұрын
@@thetoddsmith actually pico de gallo isn't the name of the pico de gallo🤔. A secret🤭 pico de gallo is the method of cutting the vegetables or fruits. In Mexico we call pico de gallo to any salsa or fruit salad chopped in the size for a roster peak.

Chirmol, Chirimol or Chirmol is how we call this salsa in Central America. It is a must have with carne asada. It is my favorite.
@mrsseasea8 жыл бұрын
I make mine exactly the same except I have never tried it with sugar or mint! But I'm going to be mixing a big batch for the game this weekend and since I tried growing mint this year I'm going to give it a try! Never heard of mint in salsa but I'm going to try it! Thank you for all your wonderful videos, I enjoy the so much and have tried and kept many of your recipe suggestions !

LOVELY and mouthwatering.....the garlic is a GREAT tip...PLEASE rinse hands in lime juice when handling chili peppers it offsets the burning on fingertips(NEVER rub eyes after chopping chili)👍 LOVE the mint in salsa....hint of mint LOL

Hi Chef John, i'm a fan of Brazil, here we do this Salsa to eat with barbecue, but we don't put the mint, and we add a little bit of vinegar and olive oil. I'm always enjoy your recipes...

YES. The seeds and the pith (White portion of the membrane) are where the majority of where the "hot stuff" is. If you don't seed the peppers it is much, much more spicy.

Here's a unique take on an excellent Pico de gallo; it's from a local carniceria/taqueria in NorCal. They use Roma tomatoes, red onion, cilantro, jalapenos, cilantro, garlic, lime juice, s&p, and the surprise....cucumber (seeded)!! Sounds weird but it's fantastic! The amount of cucumber I use is about half to 2/3s the amount of onion. Most people never even notice the taste of cucumber. It brings a sweetness to balance the acidity of the tomatoes. Give it a try!

they're not the same. parsley is much less harsh on the palette. but if you dont like cilantro i think itd be the closest sub.

I thought salsa had to be cooked and pico de gallo didn't? Is this the case or do you only have to cook it if you're planning on storing it for a length of time.
