I like how because it was already on pc for a bit and they've made some changes already, it's like it's already been featured on an episode of all patched up. I definitely can see myself enjoying this one even if it's not as good as the 1sy game

I picked this up on PlayStation back on release day and i found it super jarring how different it is from the first game. The first game is basically a 2d soulsborne game, which is fantastic because those are my favorite games. This one i think of as more of a 2d monster hunter game. Still fun as hell to play, but definitely not as good as the first game.

Wonder if they fixed the juggle mechanic everytime you get hit. It made the game feel unfair, that every hit you took sent you flying backwards or straight up through the air leaving you wide open for more damage.

The biggest Metroidvania sequel disappointment this side of Axiom Verge 2. They took the absolute best part of Sanctuary - exploring the huge interconnected world, and made it into a hub world. Then they added the most annoying mechanic - witch mini bosses, literally everywhere.

I like how this game looks better then the previous, the previous was a bit too dark and gloomy for my taste, this one keep the dark, but add in some more colors by the looks of it, and make it more appealing to me. I might pick this one up, I didnt pick the first one up. But this one looks prettier... except for that big spider boss, thats gonna give me nightmares.

Fantastic review mate. I remember being gutted when I read reviews of this on launch as the backtracking with no fast travel seemed like such a drag I lost all interest in it and I LOVED the first one so was v disappointed. Switch is my go to for indies like this and I had no idea it was updated and improved so much. Will absolutely pick this up. Sounds like I wont like it as much as the first but will still like it plenty. Really hope these developers give do a third entry. Such a unique spin on the souls style.

I specifically want to shout out that I appreciate the developers trying something to mix up the formula. I urge them to push the boundaries even further. Homing attacks vs a dodge/parry system is getting very over-saturated. With design and programming; there are a near infinite number of possibilities which combat can be implemented. Parries are a micro-evolution from a QTE, and dodges function either identical to parries, or are a micro-evolution more complex. I would happily play a unique, somewhat barebones and a bit janky new combat system, over any game that is built around homing attacks vs a dodge/parry system. I need variety in my life. These digitaldrugs is getting stale.

Always thought you look ridiculous wielding double blades and doing funny spinny attacks at giants. 1:30 was cathartic on why its just not feasible. You need to cut deep enough to sever nerves and muscle and sinew. Tiny flesh wounds would only be viable with venom. But even then, you can also apply it to big weapons too and be more effective.

Salt & Sanctuary 2 would not have made sense. This step into a more focused second offering makes more sense when considering this franchise's direction towards the future. That they removed the Parry is surprising. I thought Salt & Sanctuary had the most awesome parry animations of all games I've ever played. I would sometimes just parry away for the sake of catharsis almost. I usually prefer dashing & dodging over parrying in most games. For the rest I played a lot with the bows in the first game. A lot of ranged combat, using ice bows & fire bows as I love to play with the elements & those bows are what I would reach for in Salt & Sanctuary.
