I’m making my way through comments I haven’t responded to. I get lost sometimes. So sorry for the late reply. Thank you. This was a fun night.

Great video! It really shows what’s possible with Olympus’ Live Composite and its potential, which may only be limited by a photographer’s imagination. Thanks for the video!

Denis, I truly love this and how simple you made it look. Can you show us more about the light thingy and how you moved it around? ? Great work. From the UK...

Hi there. I found your channel for the first time. Great what I have seen here. Thanks a lot for your time and work you do for all of us. Please, bear with me, I am very new into photography. First of all, what a piece of Art what you have done with this camera. However, something that made me a little crazy was.......if you are in front of the camera doing those figures with the rope and lights, why aren't you as well inside the frame? It is like you became a ghost for the camera or invisible! haha! Remember to bear with me if my question sounds stupid. I am getting ready to buy this camera....is the M.Zuiko 17mm F1.2 perfect for that type of composite or it will need a lense with less aperture like the 12-40 F2.8 Pro otherwise, please, tell me the best one for that? Please, let me know. I send you many greetings from Muenster, Germany. Alfredo. MERRY CHRISTMAS and PROSPER NEW YEAR 2025 to you and family. Alfredo.

Love it !!!.... not sure if any other cameras other than Olympus have live composite ... it’s an enhanced bulb setting where you can see what is being recorded during the exposure..

I can understand the basic mechanism of LC, but why there is no image of a person in the photo?
@ronshephard94293 жыл бұрын
Because the sensor only captures highlights.
@deenugent4732 жыл бұрын
It also helps if the person wears dark clothes so the light doesn't reflect onto his/her clothes. Live Capture only captures new lights that are coming in, hence the moon doesn't get over-exposed even if the shutter is opened for an hour. You will see the moon trails however, but it doesn't get brighter.

Fascinating video -- THANKS! Is it possible - or have you ever tried - to do a live composite in the daytime? Not really bright Sun of course but on a hazy overcast day -- I'm guessing since 1/2 second is the quickest exposure, one would have to use both tiny aperture and an ND filter. Just curious.
@robertjackson76955 жыл бұрын
It is possible with a neutral density filter ... happy shooting !!!!

Hi Tarim, I focus where the light painting is.

Very interesting experiment. 1/2 seconds for evening, 5 seconds for night. I copy.

What the heck is live composite please ? I have been a photography addict for at least 30 years and have never heard of this before.
@johnhunter20585 жыл бұрын
As far as I know it's unique to Olympus. Others should surely have copied it by now ... it's a way of setting a background image, and then recording only changes in/of light (for the chosen period) afterwards. Olympus makes brilliant cameras and bloody awful manuals, hence the need for explanatory videos by others (like this).
