Beautifully done. 👍 Mandolinist John Reischman is a regular performer at festivals up here in Western Canada, and this song of his is common at jams. He has written many beautiful tunes great for jamming. Check out Little Pine Siskin, Horses of Dorrigo, Nesser and Suzanne's Journey, too.

Came upon this by accident. I've been playing it off and on for some time, never quite satisfied with my approach. You've given me new insights that will have immediate impact.

Thanks for this Andy. I have never quite gotten the melody to this one and always kind of faked it.

Same here. I had to really listen to John's mandolin part to get it. He's got some different timing than I would naturally play. There's still some small guitar differences here, but I think it's pretty close to what he does.

Same! LOVE this song. So ironic that Andy posted this. What are your plans to learn it? This video only? Others?
@Rybanez12011 ай бұрын
@@jeffmcdonald6517 I'll probably try to figure it out by ear as much as I can and then come back to this video, that way I can see how my approach to it differed and then fill in the gaps , round out the sound, etc : ) eventually I'd probably look at how some other people are playing it for inspiration on vairations.

A lot of Rolling Stones in those riffs.
@mandohat3 ай бұрын
@@JimmyMook700 oh that's an interesting observation. I think it's the emphasis on beat four, which is in new Orleans music, and made it into Keith Richards playing, and also into some fiddle styles that John Reischman may be emulating in this tune
