Have a similar setup for making water in my garage for my 120-gallon planted Discus tank. 5-stage RO/DI from Air Water & Ice, with two extra DI. 105-gallon Tamco vertical tank. Shipping was as much as the tank! Need to swap out for that better pump you have. I just put a 300W Jager zip-tied to a toilet float inside my tank, and water is 82F all the time. Two large air stones from JEHMCo keep the tank circulated, as I obviously don’t need to mix salt.

talked to a local fish company and they wanted 4k to install this with an auto water change system. seems pretty steep to me but this video is helpful to run this gauntlet on my own. Just got 2 105 gallons shipped for $500. we shall see. Thanks for the video.

Awesome! Yeah I have talk to professionals about setting up my systems before.. it’s outrageous! Best of you have some know how.. and skills to just do it on your own.. you get more satisfaction out of it that way too! Granted it will be more frustrating! Lol thanks for watching glad you liked it

Hey good day... what is the best Battery your going to used 115hp mercury engine outboard? In my 1985 thank you...
@ReelLifeFisherman3 жыл бұрын
Best battery for a boat is usually an AGM but for a cranking battery flooded is fine.. for a 115 you want one around 600 cranking amps .. thanks for watching

Question about when transferring rodi into the saltwater container. How do you know how much salt you should be adding? Do you have marks on the containers and wait until you get to say 10 gallons and then add 10 gallons worth of salt into the top?
@ReelLifeFisherman4 ай бұрын
Yes when I transfer over the rodi I fill usually to 20 gal mark and add the appropriate amount of salt for mixing 20 gallons.. then let it run and recirculate to mix . Then take a small cup to sample and test out if the drain

Is there a reason to use union ball valves at every location or could they just be used on the pipe runs incase of disassembly?
@brianjeffries2075 ай бұрын
How do you keep track of how much salt to add when you are making the salt water? Is some sort of levels called out on the tanks to know how much water you are adding? I wish you would do more tank videos!!
@ReelLifeFisherman5 ай бұрын
Yes there are marks on the tank in ten gallon increments. so when I make saltwater I pump over R.O. Water to the salt side and then flip the valves to circulate the water in the salt tank. and then add the number of scoops per each gallon and let it mix .. thanks for watching I appreciate it! If I did make more videos it would probably have to be what not to do videos! 🤣 I'm struggling right now to get my nitrates down I got bad about doing water changes and they went up I'm getting my refugium set up to help export them out! And back doing water changes each week..

What is your opinion on GPS on the kicker motor as opposed to the trolling motor up in front? Pros and Cons
@emmgeevideo2 жыл бұрын
At 7:26 you reach behind the two upper ball valves and you say, "I've got a ball valve back here". The ball valve you refer to is hidden from view. I don't see it anywhere in your video. This section is unclear to me. You have two hose reels. Sounds like one is to send fresh water to one tank and the other hose reel to send salt water to another tank. Is the hidden ball valve used to direct the flow to one hose reel or the other?

Seems like 2 separate pumps would be a little less complicated as far as knowing which valves to open or close. Also risk of contamination of your fresh water if both valves are open
@ReelLifeFisherman3 жыл бұрын
Guess you could run 2 pumps .. just would have to get another bulkhead fitting going into the salt tank.. and would still need a valve there to keep water from going into it when pumping up through the hose.. also space was an issue and the pump is also $200 .. but definitely something to think about.. if I get to where I think that would just make my life easier.. I would re-plumb it all! lol thanks for watching and commenting and the input !
