Absolutely. Barry's reactions of humiliation, hurt, and "of course he never noticed me" disgusted resignation all rolled into one. It's these little things that build up to his tremendous performance.

As a fellow aussie, as much as i prefer hearing Jacobs natural voice (wish he'd come home and do a few films here the same way Heath Ledger did. Infact, think Candy was Heath's best work ever,) I cannot imagine anything hotter than Jacob in this clip with an aristocratic english accent and longer locks than usual. Divine! Can't wait to see the film!

If you watch his Hot Ones interview he does it because he thinks being idiosyncratic gets him noticed by casting agents. He's probably right, look at his success, but I don't know if that makes for good, naturalistic acting.

@@GwaiZai He IS a great naturalistic actor. Mark Ruffalo gives that same advice, BTW, but it doesn't mean that you don't bend to the shape of the character, it means the actor interprets HIS way. I've seen most of the work of both of those actors, and they don't play themselves. I've seen Keoghan play delicate, gentle characters, with none of his boxer's swag, and others with it. In "Saltburn", the swag only comes out in his predatory moments, whereas at other times, he looks like he's about to run into doorways with clumsiness - great misdirection.

Never heard of Jacob before yesterday when I saw Saltburn. Not once did it occur to me that he wasn't English - impeccable accent and what a voice! It somehow sounds deeper with an English accent than when he speaks with his natural (Aus) accent 🤷‍♀ Both he and Barry are so good in the film (then again, Barry's never *not* good).

@@benbergin538 Dublin and Liverpool have similarities, which is probably why Keoghan has used Liverpool before. He works with dialect coaches, who always emphasize just learning key vowel and consonant sounds, anyway. Actors need to be free to have genuine emotional responses (the most important aspect of acting) instead of being tied up making sure they hit every single note of an accent correctly. It futzes up spontaneity. Though having said that, I don't hear anything that takes me out of his character. Elordi thought his accent was great. Other actors have praised his accent skills, I've certainly been impressed with his wide variety of dialects. I'm sick & tired of American actors not even trying accents anymore, and they probably don't because some native speaker nitpicks them out of having any confidence of trying. At least the Irish & British actors try.

If jacob elordi didn't play Felix Catton, I was thinking who should play Felix Catton now understand what emerald fennell was talking about. You need a person to play both Emotion, so I thought at first leo woodall should play Felix but i decided on Jamie Flatters he not so big but he was in avatar but they Wasted his character i thinking he can play Is charming and bit of sadness

It's certainly not as unbelievable as you're making it out to be. It's not like in Dear Evan Hansen where Ben Platt is 30, looking like he's 40 and playing a high schooler.
