What needs to be done to the Salton Sea is a partition dam with a spill way. One side would become a salt lake, growing fresher over time, fed by ag runoff as always. The other side would become a Salt sump, perhaps the salt could be put to use by industry.

used to fish here back in the day. the salinity was identical to marine so for a while they were stocking alot of marine fish species like sierra mackerel (a small kind of spanish mackerel), sargo, corvina, various croakers like yellowfin, white, spotfin, even some flatfish and various marine invertebrates made it in there. it would be amazing if they can somehow reduce the salinity back to marine and clean it up because that was awesome. it quickly degraded after 2003

The lake/stream/canal that feeds into the sea is filled with so much chemicals or pollutants that settled in the lake already. Just not possible to remove the toxins or bring it down to a safe level without spending an astronomical amount of money. We tested a tilapia from the sea last week, the mercury level is little over 7 times the safe limit.
I actually have teacher clients there, used to go often.

So there is nothing on the west side of the Salton Sea? Salton City, Desert Shores, etc? There are also two checkpoints around the Salton Sea. I think that should be included in travel videos bc it's pretty weird to international travelers and many people are affected by those.

@randomadventures47504 жыл бұрын
It's not recommended. The sea is so polluted with farming runoffs, and chemicals being dumped in from factories. The fish have a very high mercury level and it's not safe to eat. That's why there's so much fish being washed up. Also, the water is extremely murky and smelly.
