Refining gold and platinum group metals using saltwater instead of aqua regia. 30 minutes long, this instructional video details the refining process for gold and all platinum group metals using saltwater and electrolysis. This method yields gold of at least 99.95%+ purity and separates all platinum group metals from each other, with a resultant purity of 99.99+%. The procedure is simple and the video highly detailed and easy to follow.

This method would work if you either used it with the Nickelodeon accessory, or if you melted shot into a bar first. However, you would probably be better served to use the AR3G system instead (higher capacity, no need for additional accessories or melting first).

What can be done to recover the gold, when after the completion of the refining process that we realized we have forgotten to add the catalyst.
@shorinternational3841
@shorinternational3841 3 жыл бұрын
If Catalyst is not added, then almost all the alloy will dissolve, but none of the gold content. However, before discarding the solution, you should use the Precious Metal Test Liquid to test the solution to ensure that no gold has dissolved The gold will be a brown mud in the pouch. Just rinse this thoroughly with water, dry thoroughly and melt. You can then refine it again.

@@shorinternational3841 Hello. Your "system - device" will it be able to pull out gold rich activated carbon? and still it is possible to scale your "device" for 10-20 kilograms of loading?
@blaniardmarshall8924
@blaniardmarshall8924 2 жыл бұрын
@@vodoroda9449 Yes, but... It's probably best to burn the carbon first. Just a matter of economics. The metal content would be very, very low. So the cost of consumables would be high compared to the gold content. If thoroughly burned, the carbon would all convert to carbon dioxide, leaving just the metal.

it will be in the mud at the bottom then you have to dissolve that with aqua regia after collecting.

Sorry, this process requires electrical contact. That is not possible with your material (well, not in the form it is presently in). However, we may be able to advise a practical method of refining your material. For technical help, please contact our support department at bmarshall@ishor.com.

I think the use of Iodine 2% solution will dissolve gold much faster with fewer highly specialized equipments.
@blaniardmarshall8924
@blaniardmarshall8924 2 жыл бұрын
Iodine is probably much slower. However, the purpose of the process is to refine the gold. Dissolving is simply part of the process. Selective precipitation of dissolved precious gold can only be accomplished from chloride based solutions, such as saltwater and aqua regia. So iodine solutions are effective in removing gold from computer scrap, but after recovery, the metal will still need refining.

In this video, the salt system is not suitable for gold with a lower purity of 14K. Why is that so? In that case, this also means that if we have our electronic scrap melted into an ingot, this salt system will not work?
@shorinternational3841
@shorinternational3841 2 жыл бұрын
Not sure how you got that impression. The karat of the metal has no effect upon the refining and the unit will refine any karat. However, as you have surmised, it is not suitable for electronic scrap. The reason for this simple- This process requires continuous electrical contact with the item that you want to refine. That is impractical with electronic scrap, since it is mostly plastic and ceramic. If you were to remove the relavent metal first (and then melt it into a bar or sheet), then the SaltSystem would work well for you. However, that's a lot of preprocessing work. It would be much simpler just to use aqua regia, where that preprocessing is unnecessary.

@@shorinternational3841 I have been contemplating getting the salt system for electronic scrap. I can get a lot of the electronic scrap, remove the metal and melt the electronic scrap into an ingot. For an electronic scrap of 1kg, the gold content may only very small amount like 1gm. I am not sure whether the salt system is suitable. Aqua Regia method is one that I am not in favor of. In my case, would you think the salt system suit my application.
@shorinternational3841

@@angellee5253 The SaltSystem process is not suitable for electronic scrap (please see the reply to your inquiry from Sept. 23 for more details). You should be using the aqua regia process for this kind of material.

Question 1 : Can we dissolve 999 Gold Bars in it Question 2 : What dies the water look like after dissolved good
@blaniardmarshall8924
@blaniardmarshall8924 3 жыл бұрын
You can dissolve 999 bars. The resulting purity when starting metal that is pure to begin with will be a higher grade of purity. So, with 999, the result will be better than 9999. Usually, the water looks green from the copper content in karat gold. However, with 999 gold, the water will either be yellow or gold in color.
