Yup thats a good rig set up for halibut where I'm at ....I even Texas rig the plastic bait for grass and punch it looking for salt water bass and halibut in the lagoons ( west coast ) ....works great . Great video as usual ....enjoy the rest of your summer !!

Thanks for sharing that rowdy. Those halibuts seem like a awesome fish never caught one. I think you said that right about punching the texas rig with Gulp just how they should be fished. Thanks again much appreciate the kind words and have a nice holiday!

Great stuff jerry always a pleasure to watch thanks for sharing your knowledge. It’s much appreciated. I really love wade fishing with gulp if there are fish around it can’t be beat. Have great weekend pal. Hope we have a decent fall run we can only pray.

Thanks Hooper, the Gulp! is just perfect for wade fishing, not too messy and fast casting I should have mentioned dont have to change baits too often. I always think if I dont get a bite or fish anytime soon using Gulp there are no fish around to bite!

I was trying no gulp this morning as an experiment with the zman curly tails. Wasn't getting nearly as many bites as usual with Fluke. Tomorrow I will be going back to Gulp. Great job man!

Hi Bob, yea there is just something to the gulp I think as they say fish find it! I am also sure smaller faster more aggressive smaller fish find it first too! Thanks as always Bob

That Carolina rig, seems to work better than that Zulu rig,you guys used to fish with.
@FishYourWay4 жыл бұрын
I think so many times it does. One thing you are always best using a little more weight if your not sure. A lift of the rod tip will move the bait and if it sits on the bottom that gulp sways back and forth naturally in the current like a struggling bait fish, the hi-low is good too but sometimes seems like too much maintenance and gulp for me
@alleykat61714 жыл бұрын
@@FishYourWay I wonder what would happen if you used a 6 inch gulp, maybe u catch more keepers.
@FishYourWay4 жыл бұрын
My experience has been a lot of bitten off tails either by short striking small fluke or crabs will do a number on em. The smaller fish will still get to em quick! It does have a attractant which draws those smaller fish in

Hi Jerry, We use the 4" White Gulp swimming mullet all the time for fluke. One thing we noticed is to change the Gulp every 15 minutes. Take it off the hook and put it back in the package to "recharge." This keeps the scent strong. We re-use them until they fall apart. We noticed the larger fluke have moved into deeper water in the last few weeks. Fluke season closes on 9/19 in NJ. Take care and good luck, Mickey
@FishYourWay4 жыл бұрын
Hey Mickey, hope your having a good weekend. I like to recharge them too but dont think I did this day just forgot about it till later and now thanks for the reminder its been a while since I had fun with Gulp. I am not sure when the season closes here I will have to check they seem to change things faster then musical chairs! Have a great weekend Mickey and thanks for the reminder!

Nice! A few years ago I felt that the gulp was a LOT less durable than it used to be. I think they changed the formula and I thought it was a total waste of money. I haven’t bought since. It it better lately? Thanks. Be safe

Thanks rbiel, This was a 2 year old pack and it held up great, it works great for what it does for sure you can never go wrong with Gulp

gulp works great but durability not so much, flukes destroy them easily even sea robins can do some damages. i want to try the new z-man with scent but all sold out.

Jerry, when you buy Berkley gulp in a jar does the liquid in the jar keep it's scent long enough to soak other soft baits.

Yea the juice lasts a good while Juan, I have not soaked other baits in it other then gulp but I have some gulps over 7 years old here and its still good

Does it matter what time you fish? Is mid day productive?
@FishYourWay4 жыл бұрын
Mid day is fine for fluke fishing. One thing I never touch on is that fishing for fluke when you get into can be a sight game and high noon id a great time to do that. They will also bite at night. One key factor is you MAY catch more fluke on the very ends of the tides but you will pick them right through. gulp is a good way to fish for them around the sunlight.
@thelister49104 жыл бұрын
@@FishYourWay Thank you. Tried to catch some in the surf for hours and only got one small one hooked. Walked about 100 yards of beach. Was a sunny day with clear water and maybe 2ft waves. Was hoping for way better.
@FishYourWay4 жыл бұрын
Sounds like conditions were perfect, I have found them on the beach but some good concentrations around inlets and bays too around bait
@keepwalking6364 жыл бұрын
Suprised you didn't rig it with a teaser of gulp or one of your little deer hair. Be well Paul
@FishYourWay4 жыл бұрын
Hey Paul, yea, when I use Gulp bait I think just that - BAIT!!! Kinda like the stuff just plain out of the pack no need to tweak, thanks as always Paul always a pleasure to hear from you!

Where was this?
@otroflores914 жыл бұрын
Don't you know using that bait is like cheating? The pumpkin color caught my personal best shore halibut . I've moved away from gulp because of how fragile the bait has become. Especially for close to 7 dollars a bag.
@FishYourWay4 жыл бұрын
Its a great bait for sure and I would certainly call it a bait rather then lure 1st. Years back I used to use the old berkley power grubs before Gulp and I thought those were the best then this stuff came out. It makes a nice fish. One thing I found is if you let it get old it firms up. This pack as a few years old and was as good and firm as the first few runs of gulp. Aged to perfection. Thanks as always for sharing anotherflores91

Hey Jerry, herees a question I'm trying to get some clarity on, do fluke bite at night, and would this gulp work in the middle of the night?
@FishYourWay4 жыл бұрын
Good question, they do! @ things to look for at night would be any where you have lights and some structure. You can catch them in the dark BUT wade fishing like this is not the best way to catch them at night. They tend to stay on defined structures for ambush or concentrate around a light source. Piers are a good place to night fish for them it has both. Gulp will work well at night!
@FishYourWay4 жыл бұрын
Next video I will be night fishing for fluke!

Jerry you are first in class man, look forward to watching you slay some fluke at night, I was out there at sunrise with gulp trying to land a fluke, instead snapper blues destroyed my gulps.
