Hi Luis, thanks for sharing all your knowledge and experience. I really appreciate it. I want to set up a saltwater / Clownfish aquarium soon. Thanks

I like it, though I think I will just divide my 20g tanks in half vs thirds just for a little more room for the pairs

Could you do a video (or don't know if you already have one), on how to select a breeding pair, how long will it take for them to become a bonded pair and any tricks to be successful at getting a pair please? Thanks!
@TheAqualogy7 жыл бұрын
AcuaTV There really is no "how to" haha all the pairs I bought were already breeding. So when I transferred them into my system, it took a few weeks to get the back to breeding. I would look on your local Craigslist or forums for breeding pairs. If not you need clowns to be mature and a bonded pair. From there it's just a waiting gaming. The only pair that I had that I bought separately was my first pair but they were in my fish tank for 9 years before they started. So it's just easier to find a breeding pair
@AcuaTV7 жыл бұрын
Luis Perez lol i see. I had my clowns for 5 years before they started breeding on their own.
@TheAqualogy7 жыл бұрын
AcuaTV yeah, it takes a while. You just need patience and need to look for good qualities in fish. In hybrids you want to avoid "bulldog" faces or too many crosses in the breed

I gave you a shoutout in my latest video! Thanks for your help! I think you will notice your subs jump a bit :P For the record, you had 288 when I posted the video :D

Awesome video as usual , where did you get the acrylic dividers from?. And the bulkheads can you post a link, also one other question, can I use a 20g tank and just drill 1 hole on each end , a drain and a return and cut slits in ththe dividers so it’s all the same water?
@TheAqualogy4 жыл бұрын
The dividers I made from scrap. Bulkheads I got from marine depot but it all depends on the size you want. As far as your last question it all depends on what kind of system you want running

How do the clowns do in their sections? I am considering splitting my 20 long display fuge into three but am concerned that each slot might be to small. I will be using dividers with slits cut in them instead of each slot having its own drain/return.Thanks!
@TheAqualogy7 жыл бұрын
tmjvb they do fine in the 20. I'm not sure about the slits because they might see each other

About how far down from top of black trim did ya drill the drain and return lines? about how far from the dividers did ya drill holes? ty for answering
@TheAqualogy7 жыл бұрын
Betty Coyle the drain is about half way down and the return was smaller so I was about to do 2 inches from the top. I drilled my holes first then added the dividers. Don’t add dividers first

At 13.19 is that grow out tank? Only use hangin on filter?its no problem without sump system for growout luis?
@TheAqualogy4 жыл бұрын
Arul Arifin it’s okay for a few months. I definitely wouldn’t recommend as a permanent solution. The tanks will get dirty very fast

Luis can i use RG complete on my day 1 to tint the water instead of rotigreen omega its very expensive since i an doing just for hobby not commercially
@TheAqualogy6 жыл бұрын
you can, but you will use a lot more of the product. so all in all you will use more rg for the rotifers and fry tanks and omega green is not as much of the product. In my opinion its better to have both
@MrSharperimage107 жыл бұрын
great video!!! one question how is biological filtration supported? with biobals only?
@TheAqualogy7 жыл бұрын
MrSharperimage10 pretty much. I was going to do a refugium but decided to do heavy skimmer and water changes. I do have a lot of sponges in the sump as well.
@MrSharperimage107 жыл бұрын
Luis Perez I like the clean setup. I like the fact that it looks very clean down in the sump. Good job. You are a pro.
@TheAqualogy7 жыл бұрын
MrSharperimage10 I try :) thanks!
@saibot16167 жыл бұрын
Hey man another question, do you think the seachem phytoplankton will be the same as feeding RGComplete to the rotifers? I couldn't find anything that says you can but also nothing that says you can't.
@saibot16167 жыл бұрын
Follow up question, would it be okay if I do a water change in my tank right after my clowns laid the eggs? Only about 15% of water would be changed.

Where did u buy the pairs of clowns
@TheAqualogy7 жыл бұрын
J-HOOK TV I know a lot of people in the industry. Usually some people were getting out of the hobby and I bought them from other breeders
@saibot16167 жыл бұрын
Hey man thanks for the videos. My clowns just laid eggs for the first time out of nowhere. It's too late to save these guys but I think I'm going to try and get three batches of fry during the summer. Two questions: the eggs turned brown almost after one day. Is that a bad sign? They were orange the first day but are now brown almost. They laid them on some live rock that has algae on it. Second question, do you think this kit apbreed.com/product_rotifer_starter_kit.php is enough for about three batches of fry? Thanks for the videos again.
@TheAqualogy7 жыл бұрын
Bryan Tobias yeah that's normal. Eggs go from a bright orange to brown to silver as they develop. Yes that's a good kit to start. As far as 3 batches, you will run out of RG fast. The rotifers will produce on their own but you will need to feed RG twice a day so the 8 oz will go fast.

How can you tell when a clownfish has transformed into a female?
@TheAqualogy7 жыл бұрын
CloudeeDragon it won't be an apparent change until you see a size difference in fish
@TheAqualogy7 жыл бұрын
CloudeeDragon however you will see the male "shaking" like it's having a seizure
@cloudeedragon1037 жыл бұрын
Luis Perez would that also be considered breeding behavior? Because I notice both of those things in my clowns.
@TheAqualogy7 жыл бұрын
CloudeeDragon what I've noticed as "breeding behavior" is a little bit of shaking from both fish as well as tons of cleaning on a spot.usually my males tend to pick off all the algae in one area and I know they're going to lay soon. Also a full stomach on the female before feeding shows a belly full of eggs. Also you see the tubes sticking out on both clowns
