I used to fish that skyway bridge back in the early 80’s right after it got hit. Those were some outlaw days back then on the bridge.

Gosh, I can feel the heat coming through the screen, like seriously. The camera kept fogging and I could feel the heat off the bridge and the GoPro heating up, lol. Nice poon! looked like the grind. Good to see Brent finally coming to his senses and wearing some Salty Scales 😂😎

We were there two nights in a row from 1 AM till 5 AM on Saturday morning and then this morning we were there from 1 AM till 7 AM. We were netting a bunch of green backs and same thing… kept getting hits then snagged on rocks…other than dolphins kept showing up scaring away fish and there were a lot of tarpon!

Just went to the Skyway south pier Monday and Tuesday Oct 4 and 5. We had no luck beyond one Mangrove snapper. When is the best time to go fishing here? There was plenty of bait fish. We had no bites other than bait fish and dolphins.

What reel and rod your using for the tarpon?

The Okuma Cavala 12 and St. Croix Mojo

Was doing this exact free line technique with tide going out. 4-5 pin stayed alive for about 45 minutes without bite today. On the south pier. Maybe I wasn’t as close to the structure as I needed to. Is there a way that you know where the structure is with feeling around the bottom and getting snagged?

Thanks for the vid on tarpon release. If we aren’t able to get it to pop out are we allowed to use a pier net to bring them out for release or do we have to break them off?

I can't wait to make back out to the Skyway. I got Nov and Dec off and will be making some trips down there. Out of curiosity, what would you have done to release the poon if the hook didn't just release? For example, what would be the expectation if someone caught a goliath, shark, or stingray and did not have a basket? I do believe goliaths can't be taken out of the water but I haven't seen a video on the expectation versus reality.
@Saltyscales3 жыл бұрын
I have a cutter that cuts the line near the hook.

@Saltyscales2 жыл бұрын
What are you fishing for?
@dinoharrison51383 жыл бұрын
Hi Josh, serious question. The bait you hooked (3:30) you hooked through the stomach, why? I have always heard hook through the back or lips. Just curious. Have you and Chris given up on magnet fishing? While I really don't want to see a ton of it, once in a while would be entertaining. Better luck next time. It's a shame the dolphins ruined things. I am sure they did not do it on porpoise! 😂 (OK, Bad joke) Take Care, BE Well, and God Bless ✝

Many people call them grey porpoises but if this is what you learned in this video I think you're watching for all the wrong reasons. 👍
@jakefromstatefarm97212 жыл бұрын
@@Saltyscales sorry man, it’s just one of those pet peeves. If you called them greys I would understand but….. porpoises or are more related to whales than they are to dolphins. I think its an east coast thing to just call them all porpoises. I realize I came off like a dick, my bad, it’s just o e of those things to me.
