Thank you for your time and effort in crafting this demo. I hope you are getting perks from Saluda for doing this. You should be compensated. And now for some constructive criticism. Don't pay any attention to "experts" that tell you how to do something that they didn't put time and effort into because they can't or won't do what you have done so well. I think this demo is, as you stated, quite comprehensive. Anyone who has ever done more than just hit a cymbal knows that there are countless techniques involved in creating different effects, dynamics etc. What you did is allow for a listener to hear how the instruments behave organically. And actually, you did address a fairly broad spectrum of approaches that gave me just about all I needed to hear, and see during the "all together" segment. You didn't follow the same "cookie cutter" pattern that most people seem to expect. But I found that refreshing. I was also impressed with the break down by section with the time markers that gives the audience the opportunity to skip around and watch only the parts they were interested in. (I think some viewers missed that feature). The only real criticism I have is regarding the cymbals themselves, and is just my opinion. The ride cymbal isn't one I would want, it's sound is a bit fat and trashy for my taste, although during the jazz section of your "all together" marker was somewhat redeeming for the ride. Which is kind of weird because "fat and trashy" is usually what rock players look for in a ride. Is the ride on a bass drum mounted holder? It seems that the ride resonates something that is clearly audible. (The stand?) Maybe that is affecting the sound? And (this is nit picky) the "ozone" cymbals don't have the alternating discoloration rings the rest have. In my opinion, they would look better if they did. I know... very nit picky. Thanks again for this demo. You did a fine job on this one. Maybe you could get freebies from other manufacturers too!

tmont007 I really appreciate this comment. Can’t remember if I had it on this video but, on the ride I currently have a couple of strips of gaff tape and a moongel on the bottom to dry it out some. When I initially got it I was doing more worship music, so it worked well. Now I am looking to get another thinner one. You are indeed correct about the stand, it was loose somewhere and I have since switch it out. Thanks again for your words of encouragement and observations.

I've played Saluda cymbals for the past 10 yrs. I've played nearly every manufacturer on the market and I'll take the Saludas over all of them. They were custom made to the sound that I wanted. Jamie, at Saluda, is a great person and he will work with you until he gets the sound that you want. I have a 20" ride, 20" flat ride, 18" ride/crash (not a crash/ride), 16" China, 15" crash, 12" splash and 14" hi hats. I've played them on Jazz, Blues, R&B, Reggae and Country gigs. The bells are crystal clear and the cymbals sound musical. They take trade ins on all drum equipment. BTW, drum & cymbal companies don't endorse you, you endorse them. Most companies give you a break on price but unless you are a major player with a reputation, no one is giving stuff away. Everybody has to make a living.

Louis Heldt one of my favorites for sure. It’s I like to stack it with a 12” splash to add a little sizzle.

It sounds like these cymbals have faster decay / less over-ring than other brands. I find that interesting because I tend to put small pieces of electrical tape on my cymbals to correct that problem. As a drummer, I'm not a fan of most brands out there because ....they just don't sound good IMO. These sound interesting.

Nice observation Sean✊🏾. My ride from this video currently has couple pieces of tape underneath to control it even more (it's a Heavy Ride). I have another from Ambience Series which is Medium Thin and decays even faster than these!

Hey quick question.....Seeing the video is now 3 years old, how are you liking the Nemesis Hybrid Ride and China? I really dig those and am think to maybe trade unwanted stuff in towards one or both of those cymbals. The bell on the ride is really something. Thanks man. Great video!
@delmixedit4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for checking it out and for the question. I love them both. Very versatile and with the ride I currently have a moongel and a couple of pieces of gaff tape on the bottom to dry it out a bit. It’s a heavy ride so cuts through a mix nicely. I wouldn’t mind have a medium one for certain gigs
@anthem744 жыл бұрын
@@delmixedit Thanks man. Finding the right ride for my liking has always been tough. When I finally found "the one" years ago, I had to sell when the economy crashed and I was in a spot. Never heard another ride like the one I had and Meinl discontinued it. I stumbled on to your video and it is great to hear to various sounds that Saluda is making in the Nemesis line, in particular, the ride and the china. I appreciate the response and the video!

@@anthem74 my pleasure. Happy cymbal. hunting. Give Jamie at Saluda an email or call and tell him what you’re looking for, he’s really good about matching up their like with the tone you’re looking for.

Thank you! Very important video I was searching for as little is said yet about these fine cymbals. Now for some constructive criticism, It's got to be tough, but try and hit them in every fashion, to try and get all sounds possible for us to review. You don't need to let them ring all the way out, it makes the video very hard to watch and even with my expensive headphones, I'm not hearing 50% of the ring out. And lastly the font is too small in the bottom of your on-screen captions.

What would you suggest for rock and metal?
@delmixedit6 жыл бұрын
The Nemesis line is extremely versitile, of course the heavy weight probably makes more sense in those genres, depending on how hard you hit I find the mediums to also be pretty nice. The Mist-X lineup in Heavy could be sweet as well because they're bright and will cut through a mix. A 3rd option is the Glory line. I really like the overtones in those and since you're hitting them hard, it will really bring them out.
