The song is about women empowerment. Women empowerment includes the right that women can choose however they want to dress. So if they want to dress "modestly" in your definition, AWESOME! Or if they want to show their shoulders (like some in the video do), AWESOME! Or if some want to wear a bikini, AWESOME! It's however they feel comfortable and what they want. I'm glad to see them singing about feminism.

I love the strength demonstrated in this video their voice and skill are incredible! I'd just change one thing the phrase on 1:22 "we don't need no men" I love being strong and self-reliant, but I do not see my life without my husband by my side. I love strengthening him and I love it when he strengthens me. I understand that we can live without men to a degree. but can we promote women and their strength without belittling the need for good men in our lives?

There are over 100 countries represented at BYU. This is an audition group so they choose from those who show up to audition.

They chose the best people that tried out. They didn't have a skin shade test. 19% of BYU is non-white, so either they didn't try out or qualify. MLK's preferred method of judging - content not identity.

@@GraphikDisplay and you know this for a fact? Or just guessing? It's just an observation that it seems that there are (not surprisingly) no women of color in this video for both singers AND dancers. BYU and Mormonism don't have a great track record when it comes to past racial injustices so I don't think it's unfair we ask the question. MLK also stood for that.
