Important to note why he sings with such splendid emotion. He was very sick with heart problems, and his sister wrote this (amar pelos dois or, I will love for both of us) saying that even if he is to pass, she will always carry on his love, for herself and for others, ie. loving in his absence. So in the moment, this song and performance was essentially his goodbye. Fortunately he survived and is mostly well of what I've heard.

I'm from Perú so I didn't know what Eurovision was, but I got this song recommended to me by Spotify and it became my absolute favorite. A bullseye in my heart ;) This is my favorite song of this years Eurovision. When i hear it i think of Elis Regina, Chet Baker, Billie Holiday. Im from Cyprus and this song has restored my faith in the eurovision song contest - i was a huge fan but over the last years (with all the fixed songs that won) i stopped watching! Hello my dear Portuguese friends. I am Italian and i just want to say that I LOVE THIS SONG! I usually don't easily love a song but this one really entered my heart! It seems to me that it's very underrated. I find it one of the best songs i ever heard! I love the song and Salvador's voice! The wonderful melody reminds me Elvis Costello's "She" a bit. I love it! I LOVE IT SO MUCH! So far i think this one and "Occidentali's Karma" are the only original songs in this year Eurovision worth the victory. It would be great if both songs were in the top 3! For what i listened, "Occidentali's Karma", has quite a lot of good chances to win this year's contest. However, and as you may esily understand, it can only come second, in my list of wishes. To many people think that Portuguese and Russian accents sound the same. I think that both our separate cultures share a deep soul about us. This seems also evident in our past history (tough as nails), in our music, our strong cultures and our strong desire for self-determination. Long ago my mother told me that Russia is the only other nation on Earth that has a similar word for our "saudades". Sure it can be translated into En as nostalgia, longing, missing, etc., but all of them miss the soul component to it. Unfortunately, I do not know what the equivalent Russia word is. I have listen to various "Canção de Mar" by many performers, and many of them were indeed very good. However, they all seem to miss our Fado soul except that is, for two Russian singers.

Mentalidade Logica thank you for beautiful comment). In Russian language we have word "ностальгия" - nostalgia. But one another word is "тоска" (toská) that I think can be translated to Portuguese like "saudade"
