Bit of a hectic time but managed to get in and try out some of the new multi-crew salvage in the PTU this weekend with some of the folks from Frontier. The new features are incredibly raw and have had a bit of a luke warm reception but I actually think they're pretty fun!

Regarding your key concerns... it seems like the obvious fix is that you shouldn't be able to break a ship apart with the disintegration field until it's mostly hull stripped. Lore: "The armor attenuates the energy field and has to be removed first." E.Z.

You can fit more than a 1000+ SCU of materials in the Reclaimer, using the off-grid area, including the salvaging balcony. We dismantled multiple hammerheads until we were filled to the brim. 5 or 6 of them, no hull scraping, it took around 2 hours. 8 million pure profit, plus the 250.000 per contract. They need to reduce construct material sales price to 2-3k and increase RMC to maybe 15k. That would be a better balance. Alternatively, the ships should give more RMC (they give ridicilously little now, compare to RS 2000 signature panels). Either way, it needs balancing.

This issue should be pretty easy to solve. You shouldn’t be allowed to disintegrate a ship unless it’s below 20% of the remaining hull. It’s the ships armour after all.

Nice video ! like other have said they should not let us disintegrate until the armor is all gone minus 10% or so. Great video

Another thing I would like to see with the salvage missions is for them to be separated into two categories: Stripping and Salvaging. Stripping missions should be taken by haulers, and have a ship with its components/cargo/weapons there. You gamble on what you will find for a high fee. Salvage missions should cost far less, and be wrecks already stripped of components, weapons and cargo. Otherwise, a Vulture taking a salvage mission knows that the cargo/weapons/components that it CANT FIT in its measly cargo bay are probably more valuable than what it could get for a full scrape and scrap. Also these salvage missions should be automatically given out by the insurance providers for player ships that have been claimed, and be sequential, so when the strip is finished the salvage mission procs.

The mechanic should be that you cannot fracture a ship or suck it up until the ship is scrapped.

The reclaimer is probably my favorite ship and has been since I started. I've finally got one in my fleet and I don't see it going anywhere yes she is a pain in atmo but it's mine I just wish cig would get the docking fixed and add a small med bed it's kinda crazy a ship like that doesn't have something and one more thing let the lower cargo bay have a door open to the outside that way I can stick me a snub in one of those areas at the loss of cargo. If I could get those I would never leave my reclaimer. I would also like to see a rsi salvage ship maybe between a reclaimer and vulture

I agree. My wish list for my Te Kai Hamu: - Fix docking collar - Change cargo area to a small hangar for vehicles or snubs - Merge the salvage hold into the salvage processing area and increase the grid to stack 4-5 high. - Bonus: add a med bay (you are so right) Game over, I'm happy. You would hardly ever see my planet side again! :D

Theres a new EPTU patch tonight, so it will be 1 step closer to going live. - By the way 3.22 is open to ALL backers, so you can go to the EPTU test server to test this build out, fiddle with the new stuff, bug report..etc. On your launcher - instead of selecting LIVE - select EPTU (just in case you didnt know)

Couldn't sell eggs or maze all weekend. I was forced to take the Reclaimer out. I filled it up twice. Took forever and not super profitable. But by far the most fun I've had in the game yet. I'm over the moon with this chunky beast now. Can't wait for the update. o7

Great video as always, I am still unsure where you would sell the Construction Materials, this looked to be an issue I last looked into it.

You can sell it at the admin offices of major LZ's for sure (also I think the admin at Low Orbital's like Seraphim Station).

Suggestion for your future guide on this feature: highlight the unreadably tiny UI elements you're talking about (@2:13 "wait for the circular meter to fill", @2:35 "based on your range...-19% to +19% buff to yield", etc). I had to re-run those segments several times to find what you were talking about.

Yeah I was a bit against the clock on editing and would really rather have added some zooming in and out / an arrow to highlight the section. Will make sure that gets done for the proper guide.

Easy fix is to increase the value of structual by the percent of hull scraped on each part. For example 4k per scu from 0 - 50% scrapped and at 100% 25k or somthing similar. For me scraping and structural together is the salvage loop and something like this would encourge doing both.

Yeah that could definitely be a way, link the yield bonus (just go with an excuse that RMC corrupts some of the CMats).

Yes and later down the line, they could easily map this with tiered/quality of goods maybe too, high quality structural component etc.@@LoudGuns

Right, it would be akin to collecting inert materials in ore bags in the sense you're filling precious space with less valuable material. It's a decision weighed on the minds of miners when considering how much time you exactly want to spend trying to find that perfect rock. @@LoudGuns

I agree that there is no many reasons to scrape the hull other than RP i guess. This is even more true if you only want big money because the Hammerhead mission gives you 250k, and you get them the moment you disintegrate the ship, no scraping needed.

I find the scraping very relaxing way to get some cash in SC I spent a day first removing the weapons and the cargo of a salvage C2 then scraping it with the Vulture yes even with 12 SCU on the grid and 7SCU off the grid it still was 4 trips lol it will be a shame that I will not be able to do the hull of that ship LOL now its started me looking at the reclaimer LOL but I think its too much solo so maybe when my friend decides its ok to play then great. BUT there is a Gap in the ships and with them working on the salvage and how its going to work the next mid salvage ship may be in the works too 😁 Hoping its a 2 - 3 player ship with a good size cargo hold and can do large ships like the c2 ( Hope and dreams LOL )

I would say that (emphasis) for right now you can operate the reclaimer with 2-3 of you. I’d fully expect to us crew requirement to increase with time but if you’re looking to buy one in game next patch then you and a friend would be ok in it 👍

I know that a single Reclaimer salvage beam salvages faster than both Vulture's beams combined, but hull scraping still feels slow. And when I was in my friend's Reclaimer, I think one of the beams wasn't pulling any RMC (even though it *was* removing the hull plates off the target).

Yeah I’m inclined to check switching to the abrade, in all prior testing we’ve done the abrade is superior to the trawler.

@@LoudGuns Yeah, Abrade seems to salvage the fastest, based on the area covered and extraction speed. Followed closely by Trawler, and then the Cinch is trailing far behind. If my math is correct. Big "if", however. I did notice that the numbers shown in the ship fitting tool and the numbers shown when actually salvaging seem different (speed, efficiency).

​@@LoudGunsthis is what I did with my reclaimer I left the right side alone and changed the other . I've also noticed it depends on how the servers are doing on a good server it takes no time to strip the hull if it's bad sometimes you have to stop and wait for it to catch up if not you just loose the rmc

With hull scraping I think you’re better off skimming the top layer only.. so going quite fast over an area and keeping the turret as close to 100%. Only spend 10 mins on it - then do structural.

Didn't hull scraping change to where it yields the most between the two resources?? So in other words scraping nets the most now. Surely this will change but I don't think they want us to break, suck and go lol.

Still salvage looks like it can be quite fun, still not tried it, but intend to with my Vulture, as for me i do not suffer from MinMaxaitus so i do it for the fun more so than to make dank credits.

I don't know for sure but it's possible hull scraping, then munching, makes more sense for the solo Vulture where you could optimise ship size to fill your hold in one go, saving on mission costa and journey time between missions.

Yeah I think for the vulture it probably does make sense to focus RMC, particularly at the new values. Previously I max’d the vulture out with 22 boxes so that’s a pretty decent haul at 308K

Salvaging a huge ship should take a reasonable amount of time, but the time spent on scraping versus munching far too unbalanced. Scraping a hammerhead can take 45 minutes while hull munching only a few minutes. Doesn't make much sense. Either make scraping take less time and spend more time munching or require a certain amount of scraping be done before munching can happen.

It sounds like the value of construction materials is probably much too high and the hull scraping speed is way too low, because if you just hike the RMC price up, then you'll be making multiple millions or 10s of millions per ship and no other professions can compete with that either.

Yeah I would say RMC is probably about right / hopefully can be sped up by going to the abrade and being a bit more active. Construction Mats probably need quite a large nerf.

Same as everything else CIG does, it's better than nothing. Still don't know why I would want to bother with industry in a PvP game. When I want to do that, I have far more fun in Space Engineers solo or with friends. Spending hours gathering boxes on a Reclaimer only to get them all stolen just sounds awful.

@@Jesse-2531 and they’re all nothing but ganking games. I clearly shouldn’t have pledged for this. Mistakes were made. It’s not like industry is the focus here anyway. It feels more like industry players are just meant as easy gank targets than anything else lol

Bad industrialists are easy gank targets, but as revealed by the fact I have seen exactly 1 piracy video where the guys getting hit had an Fs9 to shoot back with I think the segment that you see are the low hanging fruit 😂

Its akin to EvE Online. I love industrial gameplay.. but you are in a ocean that has different species of sharks in there with you. I cant get mad at the ocean and sharks will never have a come to jesus moment and decide they should stop what they consider to be Their fun. You outsmart the sharks by figuring ways to become unpredictable and undetectable. Now that ocean takes on a different mood. Its FUN not being bit - made it home, cashed out.. ship is parked, money counted and the pack of sharks is still swimming their patrol route, senses on high alert. They dont even realize you made it all the way home and have your feet up on the desk, sipping coffee. They have no clue you were even there or that you even exist. Thats the way it is.. just like he said - the low hanging fruit get eaten. @@chrishoppner150

Do you point then click, or click then point? Only millions per run? It is just too complex and unrewarding. I'm give up! I guess it is time to join a pirate Org to do massive, coordinated, high risk operarions against players of unknown skill, and uncertain manifests, with our lives on the line, and at a possible loss. Just like all the other "EZ mode players." 😢 hehe
