Some treasure mixed in with the trash. I’m making a second pass through a couple of big mixed auction lots I got. Making decisions on what to try and move out and what needs my attention. Even the lower quality stuff could be of use to someone just starting out who has nothing. This guy was my kindred spirit with hammers and files. I have too many now but can’t resist getting even more.

Thank you for your comments and understanding what I tried to do here. I passed a lot of this stuff on to my brother, He has 2 boys he is building out starter sets of toolboxes for. I am really glad to have been able to pass these on to help out someone with some tooling and they will eventually be needed by them. My mother needed a toolbox for a business property she has and needed to keep tools at the location. Many of them went that direction too. I kept quite a bit and am working through them as time permits to clean them up. I do appreciate old tools and that they were part of this mans legacy which is why I gathered what I could. Wish I could have salvaged more of his legacy vs what happened to it. Bulldozed and put in a dumpster. sad to see. Cheers

This stuff is pure gold dude, if you had to purchase this find new you'd be looking at $1000. I live to find this stuff cheap at garage sales and estate sale. Some of this you can't even find anymore, it's not trash!

I liked them little ballpeens hammers & them Craftsman tool boxes. I saw some more that looked interesting but didnt get a good enough look at it to remember what
@deezworkshop13 күн бұрын
There was a lot of interesting stuff in there, I have 3 buckets full of tools and filled that red toolbox. The craftsman toolboxes and many of the wrenches and other tools went to my Brother and friends, They are creating starter toolboxes for their younger children to get them interested in hands on work and fixing things on their own. I was happy to save some of this gentleman's legacy from the landfill.

@deezworkshop I do it when I can & i like see people rescue old tools. I don't see people alter them if they are fixable. Have a great day & Merry Christmas

I appreciate your interest. I will give it some thought. I thought about using it to put all my past project plans, manuals, and receipts in related to this hobby. If I don’t use it I would certainly prefer to pass it onto someone who will.

I’m always envious when I hear prices of tools in USA…. if I’d found that brass hammer, I’d genuinely be over the moon. The prices in Oz for tools are ludicrous

I wirebrushed the brass hammer and it looks great. I am going to restore the handle now. Wish you could get stuff cheaper in AU. Thanks for watching. I am just glad I couls save some of this gentlemans tooling.

@@deezworkshop that puts a big smile on my dial. I got some stuff that will almost certainly just get chucked when I go: tools inherited from a grandfather (he died two years before I was born, a pair of Nippers & a brace; both used in the construction of two houses in Bega NSW circa 1919,both of which still stand) a machete(used in combat WW2) & Baling hook (used in pub fights & street fighting) from an uncle I grew up with (omg the stories I learned when at age 6 I became his drinking partner); lastly a great range of woodworking tools from my wife’s dad. Peter was never a father in law so much as a friend. WW2 aircrew, two tours of duty (about 50 missions) as Bombadier in a Halifax. And over the time he knew me, I was given tools. Those are more precious to me than any treasure. Be kind, be well.
@deezworkshopАй бұрын
I love the stories. Nothing can replace those, the memories, and the legacy of tools passed down. Has to put a smile on the face every time you use them. I wish I could have saved more but I did what I could and am passing many of them along to my nephews, My mother has some of the newer stuff for her office she has and I kept 3 buckets of stuff to continue to work through. MY father in law is also more of a friend than father, We have had a lot of fun together, Still having our fun when we can as he gets older. Cheers and Happy Thanksgiving from the US.

Don't throw those beaters out. They're great for putting in drills and mixing cans of paint. My favorite out of it all is that brass hammer. That's beauty.
@deezworkshopАй бұрын
The Brass hammer is awesome. Great idea with this beaters. Ill hang onto them. thanks. I have a lot of the hammers and older tools tucked away in buckets for future cleanups.
@1pcfredАй бұрын
@@deezworkshop you'll find some old beaters in my garage. They're for stirring old paint. You can bring it back with a stick. The beater is faster and easier. Which if I'm skimping on paint I'm all about. Some paint's too far gone. I've brought a lot of borderline cases back from the brink though. Just give it a good beating.

Hi Deez, the mystery oiler was made by Eagle the clue is the patented pump style and its handle.

I cleaned it up recently and it is an Eagle as you pointed out.

The Clipper you took out of the white bucket did it have any name on it or letters in the handle grips? It looks like an H.K.Porter tool? That would be a cool tool to have and restore. If it is my dad was on of their machinists.
@deezworkshopАй бұрын
Thats cool your dad was a machinest there, I checked and they werent actually clippers but they were Crimpers, Make in Ohio by "National Telephone Supply Company" Not sure they will be of any use to me but neat old tool.

I was gifted loads of leather tools that was going to be thrown away by the people that found them in a house they bought. They didn't see any value in them but figured I might want them. Easily $3000 worth of tools and supplies even in the condition they were in.

I tried to save what I could, donated a lot. It was a shame the family wanted nothign to do with anything. There was so much stuff to go through. tons and tons more than I have in this video.

The long box was a homemade plumbing box
@deezworkshopАй бұрын
Cool, This gentleman had about 5-6 of these homemade long toolboxes. I didn't realize that Plumbers made them for their tooling. Makes sense. I could see them being useful for longer carpentry tools as well, Like Squares and levels etc. Thanks for watching.

Not a lot of great things in this lot but I thinkn the effort to see what was there was worth it. I dis manage to save some things that I will put to use, My family got a lot of the wrenches. making tool sets for the nephews. Oddly enough many of these wrenches complete sets that were missing sizes from several family members tool collections. At least someone will use them
@TheMiniMachineShopАй бұрын
I have to laugh all the wrenches are trash. They're all SAE and everything is metric now days. The last time I used an SAE wrench was some 30 years ago. This was a blast from the past seeing all the old tools I'm older than dirt so if you want to know what something is let me know. Thanks for sharing!
@TheRealWeirdoC27 күн бұрын
Do you live in Europe? Here in the US, SAE is still more common than metric for a lot of applications. Furniture, plumbing, and construction hardware are almost exclusively SAE for us. Automotive fasteners are where almost all of the metric stuff is found, and even that's a mix of both on the domestic vehicles.
@TheMiniMachineShop27 күн бұрын
@@TheRealWeirdoC I am in the US but like I said I can't remember the last time I needed an SAE wrench. Cars, lawn mowers, you name it are all metric. I also believe there are only two countries left still using imperial. Even drinks have ml on them. Cheers!

Wait… I use 3/8” for my Dremel tools.
@TheRealWeirdoC13 күн бұрын
@@Papa-Anvil I just had to bolt my drill press down to the new rolling cabinet I made for it. Lowe's never got the memo that SAE isn't around any more, so they had half an aisle of SAE bolts and nuts instead of metric. I had to use not one, but TWO 9/16" tools at once for the hex bolt and the nut. It's crazy we were both able to use those ancient and useless tools since the US completely switched over to metric in 1994, huh?

Lots of poorly maintained repeat tools.... Some handy items but sadly nil surprising nuggets of tool gold.
@deezworkshopАй бұрын
Agreed. Most of it was junk and I’ve already given it away. I personally think the old fella became senile in his later years and bought many many repeat tools thinking he didn’t have them.
