Are you obeying Christ or your man-made rules? For example, are you filled with rivers of living water? Have you been born again? If not, then you are not obeying the Lord. Conversely, if you are asking, "Where is the Church that Christ built?", you have left the teachings of Christ. That is, where in His teachings do you reprove me of sin? Daniel Smith purgatory is an excellent example. The teaching that Jesus’s sacrifice didn’t pay for all our sins and we must pay for them after death by suffering in purgatory. You don't start discussing a specific topic and then use a parable that is discussing a completely different topic. So let's examine the context of what Paul was discussing when he used that parable. “Dear brothers and sisters, when I was with you I couldn’t talk to you as I would to spiritual people. I had to talk as though you belonged to this world or as though you were infants in Christ. I had to feed you with milk, not with solid food, because you weren’t ready for anything stronger. And you still aren’t ready, for you are still controlled by your sinful nature. You are jealous of one another and quarrel with each other. Doesn’t that prove you are controlled by your sinful nature? Aren’t you living like people of the world? When one of you says, “I am a follower of Paul,” and another says, “I follow Apollos,” aren’t you acting just like people of the world? After all, who is Apollos? Who is Paul? We are only God’s servants through whom you believed the Good News. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us. I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. Paul is talking about how our works will earn us rewards in heaven and regardless of whether our works survive the test of fire we will still be saved. It is our works that are tested by fire not our soul or spirit. Now let's examine 11-15. “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have-Jesus Christ. Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials-gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw. But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value. If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward. But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The builder will be saved, but like someone barely escaping through a wall of flames.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭3:11-15‬ ‭NLT‬‬ bible.com/116/1co.3.11-15.nlt Everything Paul says is referring to works. Our works will be tested by fire and if they survive the test of fire we will receive a reward. The reward is not salvation. Our salvation is a free gift from the grace of God. The definition of grace is a free and unmerited favor of God. It cannot be earned. When Paul says we will be saved but like someone barely escaping a wall of flames is a metaphor. Nowhere has Paul mentioned forgiveness of sin or temporal punishment in this entire chapter. In every case of a biblical reference to purgatory it is either a parable taken out of context of what is being discussed or an assumption with nothing to support it. Nowhere in the bible is purgatory, forgiveness of sin after death, temporal punishment after death, or purification after death directly discussed. Not even the concept of the idea is ever directly discussed.

The Dogma: Outside the Church( Roman Catholic apostolic), there is no. salvatiion. There must be a month ( December maybe) in which that dogma must be preached everyday at the Sunday mass, or ordinary mass. So that the people will never fail to listen and be reminded at least a month for a year.

Isaac is correct in his theme, however when the Catholic Church is in chaos since Vatican II-- and much of it has become politically correct and is not teaching the Truth-- culminating in the False Prophet [Francis] now seated in Rome, then things become more complex. So many saints helped those outside the Church. It's called mercy. We don't say they are living life wrong? Father, I will pray for you and for me. Even the older Traditional catechism teaches that those "outside" the faith might be saved. The new catechism teaches how they may be part of this Church like the good theif on the Cross. We must not be like the Sadducees and the Pharisees in our time. And even those after Vatican II have been spat upon Father... we have seen Satan divide us. We have much in common. Let us come back into unity as Christ desires.

I could be wrong. Lord knows it won't be the first time. I've listened to this a couple of times and so far what I'm hearing him say is if we aren't Roman Catholic, we aren't going to heaven? I believe what the Church teaches, but if you tell people to become Catholic or go to hell, most people would be offended and won't do it. Of course, if someone denies the Truth and do not come Catholic, and die unrepentant, that person goes to Hell. But when you evangelize, are you going to do it by saying, "Repent, or you will go to hell"? I go to Temple University, and, sometimes, there are Protestant evangelists, who, even though they are heretics, they are not afraid to call for repentance. But every time that there is this specific group of people, it causes almost a riot. My point is: yes-anyone outside the Church and remains in that state will go to Hell, but when you are evangelizing, should you make such a statement if it most likely will lead someone to simply scowl at God? When you win a soul over, or at least have them interested in converting, could it be that *then* you mention about hell?

@ mejl2015 Hi, I think that once a person understands the truth about the Catholic faith he or she will get to know and understand the need to belong to it, otherwise they will perish. To threaten someone out of the blue is not going to help anyone, on the contrary, it may put them off Catholicism altogether. Much prayer, sacrifice, living the faith and the grace of God will bring that person to the truth of our religion. These are just my thoughts btw.

Hello I need help, my dad is a Jew his father was a haham (Very religion Jew) and All his side are very religious Jews I have tried to talk to him a lot on the past he only got mad there so many people around me (Israel) that are not in the Catholic Church my mother included (orthodox) and I am not baptized yet ( the priest in the closet place said it is important to have church studies at list 2 years before I will baptize.. Fr. Issac didn't give the full teaching on the doctrine of no salvation outside the Church. There is the visible Church and the invisible Church, and the Church doesn't teach that everyone who dies outside the visible Church is damned. A man who is outside the visible Church through no fault of his own may be saved if he has faith in God and does God's will and has implicit desire of baptism. Catechism of Pope Pius X: 29 Q. But if a man through no fault of his own is outside the Church, can he be saved? A. If he is outside the Church through no fault of his, that is, if he is in good faith, and if he has received Baptism, or at least has the implicit desire of Baptism; and if, moreover, he sincerely seeks the truth and does God's will as best he can such a man is indeed separated from the body of the Church, but is united to the soul of the Church and consequently is on the way of salvation. Letter of the Holy Office to the Archbishop of Boston, 1949: In His infinite mercy God has willed that the effects, necessary for one to be saved, of those helps to salvation which are directed toward man's final end, not by intrinsic necessity, but only by divine institution, can also be obtained in certain circumstances when those helps are used only in desire and longing. This we see clearly stated in the Sacred Council of Trent, both in reference to the sacrament of regeneration and in reference to the sacrament of penance. The same in its own degree must be asserted of the Church, in as far as she is the general help to salvation. Therefore, that one may obtain eternal salvation, it is not always required that he be incorporated into the Church actually as a member, but it is necessary that at least he be united to her by desire and longing. However, this desire need not always be explicit, as it is in catechumens; but when a person is involved in invincible ignorance God accepts also an implicit desire, so called because it is included in that good disposition of soul whereby a person wishes his will to be conformed to the will of God. These things are clearly taught in that dogmatic letter which was issued by the Sovereign Pontiff, Pope Pius XII, on June 29, 1943, . For in this letter the Sovereign Pontiff clearly distinguishes between those who are actually incorporated into the Church as members, and those who are united to the Church only by desire.

If someone dies outside the Church and is saved on account of his seeking God and doing God's will, he is saved through the means of the Church - its mass and eucharist and prayers - which give God's saving grace to all of humanity. The Church exists in heaven and in purgatory as well as on earth. So there are no persons in heaven that are outside the Church.

If they can claim invincible ignorance they have a loophole and can be saved. But in this computer age it is hard to claim invincible ignorance when you have all the teachings of the Catholic Church at your fingertips, unless you are a total imbecile. If they know the teachings of the Church and willfully reject them, or have access to them and refuse to learn, it looks like they're going to hell. But only God knows for sure. If they know that Christ established the Catholic Church and they willfully reject it, I don't think they can be saved. They have no problem telling Catholics they're going to hell so I suppose it's ok to tell them these things. If they don't like it I guess that's too bad.

Are you telling me that all the people that were good people of different denominations of Christianity are all in hell even tho some of them were sincerely pursuing Jesus? It doesn't mean that everyone who isn't a formal member of the visible institution known as the Catholic Church will be lost. You have to be joined to the Mystical Body of Christ and in a state of grace, and the church recognises the validity of baptisms done in other denominations so technically Protestants are part of what's called the soul of the Church despite not being actual formal members.

Thisis , Where in Galatians does it say anything about salvation is in the Church . If you read Galatians You will find He says nothing about the Church . Most of the scriptures talk about faith in Christ as the only way of salvation . Paul says that by faith in the Son of God we become sons of God you can`t become a son of God with out Salvation . I do not believe this. Salvation is acheived by belief in God, belief in Jesus our Messiah and the Holy Spirit. There is no Bible that states one must be a Catholic to acheive salvation. I do not need an institution to find God. I do need the word and to love God with all my heart and to live my life as the Bible instructs. I do need to believe with all my heart that Jesus Christ was the ony begotten son of God who made the sacrafice for one and all time so man could be redeemed of sin. I must confess my sins but more than that I must look at my sins and who I have harmed with all the honesty I have. I must also look to who has harmed me and look at my part in it. Only through forgiveness can we be forgiven. Only through forgiveness can we go to heaven.

It is the Body of Christ. If you reject the Body of Christ, you reject Christ. The Bible is a product of the Catholic Church. The Church preceded the Bible by 397 years. The Church is the authority Christ established. Again, the Bible tells you to hear the Church. The Bible is not the complete faith, it is some writings of the Catholic Church. The complete faith is in the Catholic Church.
