I'm impressed, anyone starting a new model company that produces homegrown, desirable and well detailed subject matter at a competitive price deserves success and our continued patronage. I can't understand how you're always so positive about every kit you build. I got an MPC Dukes of Hazzard General Lee and it's so bad I don't think I can build it. Everywhere I look there are giant gaps between parts. Shame too, it's my 3rd model car and I haven't managed to finish a single one because of various reasons. Maybe I will give a fourth one a try or just keep to building tanks. You did do a pretty great job on this one though, kudos. Also I'm not slagging on this new manufacturer, this kit looks dope.
@hpiguy5 жыл бұрын
I do this for a hobby. If It bummed me out or made me angry all the time I wouldn't enjoy it anymore. Pick some newer easier kits, get those done and then go back to the ones that give you issues. Take your time, there is no rush.
@realmaindrianpace5 жыл бұрын
I have seen a couple of the Salvino's Olds kits built, including on the cover of Scale Auto magazine, and one thing always stands out to me on that car - the rear wheel openings are too low and don't show enough of the tire. That's important, since the big slicks are such a prominent feature on NASCAR cars, and the solution is simple - radius the rear wheel wells a bit to show more tire. Would make a big difference.
@nelsonjones9482 жыл бұрын
Love your videos - your builds are all so very clean and detailed. Was wanting to do this kit to build Darrell Waltrip's 78 Gatorade Monte Carlo "Bertha" - would you happen to have any specs as far chassis, engine & interior details especially paint? Again thank you sharing your expertise!

Another hit out of the park, Chris! These Salvinos reissues are just awesome and it is great to see these classic kits available again. Also great to see that they brought out the '79 Olds as well so now we can model the pool scene from Cannonball Run! Also, what did you use to paint the window trim and did you have to do much masking?
@hpiguy5 жыл бұрын
I use a black sharpie for black trim and silver sharpie for silver trim most times. I didn't need to mask the body, per the decal sheet.
@bobastu5 жыл бұрын
Love it! Definitely not a '78 though. Maybe he drove it in '78; the '77 was the last year of the baroque styling on the body. The headlights are '75 or prior. If the other nose had two lights, one on top the other, on each side, that would be the '76/'77 headlights. I loved my '77!

@hpiguy5 жыл бұрын
Yes, Future is safe over dried decals, safe under decals before applying and safe over almost every kind of paint as long as the paint is dry. It will also help old decals settle down and stick nicely if they are peeling up. I brush Future on.

These are wonderful kits. But I'm not into Nascars. Tho, Salvinos have released a vid this week of a new WIP of a '73 Charger. It's the road-going version and not a stock-car. However, this may just be the begining of a new stock-car, and they started from the picture of the road-going car, but some people think that Salvinos may be working on their first road-going car kit.
