In a real pinch or in a wilderness setting... Go for it! I haven't done this IRL before, but during practice, I noticed that it was more comfortable, more secure, and easier to apply without moving the spine out of neutral.

I certainly wouldn't use this when a proper c-collar is available. When I go deep into the back country, I don't carry a c-collar, but I do carry a SAM. If you have to wait for hours or days for emergency resources to reach you, this is a great option for cervical spine stabilization.

Agree with the others. This should never be necessary. Nevertheless... Options options options. It should never have to come to this, but it's still nice to know that you can do this.

+m11nus then it isn't for you. It's for people who need lightweight and portable splinting solutions to be used in the outdoors when you have to evac the victim, not to stabilize whilst not moving. For that you obviously just use c-spine.

No space for emergency airway procedures like cricothyroid pressure or something like that.

Since when has C-Spine Management taken precendence over Emergency Airway Management? Of course you'd remove the Splint and begin your cric if you needed to.
